ING Hubs Romania offers 130 services in software development, data management, non-financial risk & compliance, audit, and retail operations to 24 ING units worldwide, with the help of over 2000 high-performing engineers, risk, and operations professionals.

We started out in 2015 as ING’s software development hub, then steadily expanded our range to include more services and competencies. Now we provide borderless services with bank-wide capabilities and operate from two locations: Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca. 

Our tech capabilities remain the core of our business, with more than 1800 colleagues active in Data and Analytics Tech, Tech Foundation and Channels, Retail Core Banking and Architecture, and Global Products and Technology Services.

The mission

The IT Engineer contributes to the design, development, delivery, and operation of IT applications, platforms, and services that support the organization’s technology and business objectives.
The role focuses on applying established engineering practices to maintain and improve existing solutions, support the evolution of digital services, and ensure solutions operate in a reliable, secure, and compliant manner.

Your day to day

Application & Software Development

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain IT applications and services using established engineering practices.

• Analyze existing solutions to identify opportunities for improvement, optimization, or remediation.

• Resolve complex defects and ensure the reliability, performance, and continuity of applications.

Product and Service Improvement

• Contribute to the design and evolution of digital products and services using data, feedback, and performance insights.

• Propose and evaluate technical improvements aligned with user needs and business priorities.

• Support proof‑of‑concepts, prototypes, or solution designs where applicable.

Technical Delivery & Operations

• Deliver defined engineering outcomes using existing systems, tools, and frameworks.

• Contribute to small or medium‑scale initiatives or projects within established delivery frameworks.

• Ensure solutions adhere to quality, security, performance, and reliability standards.

Compliance & Risk

• Apply organizational policies, standards, and regulatory requirements in daily work.

• Identify and escalate risks, non‑compliance, or technical concerns when appropriate.

• Support secure and well‑controlled IT solutions in line with risk and security expectations.
