Help shape the future of compliance by planning and executing key Financial Crime activities. In this role, you'll ensure that ethical and regulatory standards are seamlessly embedded into daily operations, driving effective Know Your Customer (KYC) risk mitigation across the organization.

Your Day to Day

  • Support the business in implementing and applying the ING Bank Compliance Risk Management Charter, with a focus on reviewing and resolving Customer Monitoring Activity alerts (both ante-factum and post-factum transaction monitoring).

  • Analyze information received from internal departments or employees regarding suspicious operations—whether planned or completed—and ensure each case is properly registered and investigated.

  • Identify and report all medium, high, and critical compliance risks.

  • Manage and prioritize workload to meet quality and productivity standards.

  • Actively contribute to innovation initiatives, with a focus on improving efficiency in compliance-related processes.

  • Identify and report issues related to application functionality and suggest improvements.

  • Notify relevant authorities when there are reasonable grounds for suspicion, and report to financial authorities as required by economic sanctions regulations, in line with legal and internal AML/CTF procedures.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable legislation, including:

    • Law no. 129/2019 on the prevention and combating of money laundering and terrorism financing

    • NBR Order no. 2/2019

    • Government Emergency Ordinance No. 202/2008 and Law No. 217/2009

    • Council Regulation (EU) No. 833/2014 and subsequent updates

  • Participate in cross-border knowledge sharing, including best practices and lessons learned, in collaboration with Compliance Officers, Legal, and other risk functions.

  • Provide guidance and support in promoting a strong compliance culture through presentations, policy development, and training sessions.

  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities delegated by management, provided they align with the compliance role and do not conflict with its core responsibilities.

What you bring to the team

  • Education: University degree (economic or legal academic background);

  • Experience: min 2 years of economic/ legal experience;

  • Computer proficiency: Word & Excel processing(using basic functions), E-mail, Internet;

  • Language proficiency: good level of English, verbal & written.

Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of the Romanian legal framework, National Bank of Romania (NBR) regulations, and international compliance standards related to financial crime risk.

  • Familiarity with both local and international best practices in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and operational risk management.

  • Strong knowledge of banking products, services, customer relationships, and awareness of external market developments impacting compliance.

  • Deep understanding of internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements governing compliance activities.
