The Mission

Payment & Settlement Services (PSS) is a professional service provider designing, building and operating high quality and efficient payment, settlement and open banking services. We leverage our scalable payments target stack and the expertise of our people, to deliver these services.

SEPA | our SEPA Credit Transfer service provides the processing of euro payments, from technical solution to product development and operational activities for regular and instant payments. The Real Time Payments Engine relies on SEPA teams in RO to pre-process transactions, reconciliation files and settlement bookings.

Your day to day

Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:

• Tech Lead and Mentor: Guide and support your team of developers to ensure high-quality code and efficient project delivery.

• Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

• Refine and implement user stories derived from features, ensuring clarity and feasibility.

• Engage in coding, unit testing, and assist with UAT (User Acceptance Testing).

• Take full ownership of user stories from analysis to release and support.

• Present demos to user groups and teams, showcasing progress and functionality.

• Coordinate activities across different groups to ensure seamless user story delivery.

• Ensure user stories are delivered within the scope of ING IT Risk, and perform all necessary IT risk requirements and documentation.

• Work closely with teams located in Bucharest, Amsterdam, Mumbai, and Manila.

• Actively participate in Scrum rituals, including stand-ups, retrospectives, refinements, and reviews.

What you’ll bring to the team

Experience: 

• Minimum of 7+ years' experience with Java 17 and 21.

• Strong understanding of software design principles and patterns.

• Proven experience in designing and implementing microservices architectures and RESTful APIs.

• Extensive experience with Spring Boot, Spring Batch, and concurrent/thread-safe programming.

• Proficient in using JMS for enterprise application integration.

• Understanding and practical exposure to Kafka.

• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) using Cucumber and Gherkin.

• Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as GIT, Maven, Azure, Ansible, and Docker.

• Good Linux skills for day-to-day operations.

• Focus on optimizing the performance and quality of applications.

• Strong preference for working in SCRUM and agile environments.

Nice to have:

• Experience with XML, XSL, and XSD, particularly for MX message handling.

• Experience working with Cassandra and other NoSQL databases.

• Skilled in using monitoring and metrics tools such as Kibana, Grafana, and Prometheus.

• Experience working effectively with teams across multiple locations.

• Familiarity with SWIFT messages, including MT and the new ISO20022 standard for MX.

• Solid understanding of the payments industry and its standards.

Foreign languages: English (advanced)

Education: must have Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in an IT related field
