IT Operations Engineer
Job Overview
Working as an IT Operations Engineer, you’ll be managing infrastructure, operating systems,
responding to incidents, keeping the environment secure and automating repetitive tasks.
Key Responsibilities
•infrastructure management
omanaging Linux and Windows environments
oproficient in the command-line (RHCSA/RHCE certification or equivalent)
•virtualization
omanaging virtualized environments (VMWare)
•containerization
odocker, podman
oKubernetes, openshift
•networking
ofirewall rules
oDNS, DHCP
onetwork storage (NFS/NAS, SAN, CIFS/SMB)
oload balancing
•automation
oscripting knowledge to automate repetitive tasks
obuilding and integrating tools that will assist in improving system availability,
reliability, and performanceoutilizing CI/CD tooling to automate (Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
•configuration management
oenforcing configuration (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
•monitoring and troubleshooting
operformance monitoring
oproactive identifying problem areas of a system, i.e. software bugs,
misconfigurations, bottlenecks
otrend analysis
•incident and problem management
ocoordinating incident management and service restoration
•capacity planning
•service level management
oproactive monitoring and adherence to SLAs
oholding IT Engineering, Security and Architecture accountable for remediation of
any SLA degradation
•IT Key Controls
oensuring that IT is ‘in CONTROL’ by holding IT groups accountable for adherence
ocollating and providing necessary evidence to Auditors for these controls
•disaster recovery (DR) & business continuity planning (BCP)
ohigh availability and resilience patterns
