The team

Becoming fully data driven is at the very core of ING’s Think Forward strategy to empower people to stay ahead in life and in business. To contribute to the ambition of leading the future of ING through data, the data management tribe has the purpose to manage data in a controlled and governed way, to ensure required quality and to foster a data driven culture.

The main technologies that are used within the DataLake are IBM Infosphere for ETL, BI and Data Governance. The main databases are Oracle Exadata and IBM Netezza. However this technologies are currently transitioning to cloud based technologies (join us to shape this journey!)

As Data Management has a mission to empower end-users to take data driven decisions, the area has taken its first steps towards public cloud. Together with analytics, data management has the ambition to be a front-runner on public cloud to move ahead to a modern data platform.

Data Lineage, Data definitions, Data Quality, Data Processing and Data modelling are the core pillars within data management.

Data Management has an international context with a focus on consuming (from ING Group) but also offering some services (for local and global market), with the clear responsibility to safeguard the reliability, evolution and user satisfaction. In this international setup, an intense collaboration with other entities of ING Group (including CDO Office) and a common view on the data strategy is key for success balancing between local and global aspects.
