Chapter Lead Global Major Incident Management

The Chapter Lead will lead a team of major incident managers, focusing on resolving global major incidents and manages crises to minimize downtime. You are an every-minute counts-oriented Global Major Incident Manager with proven experience in IT and an excellent set of analytic, communication, and management skills. You can manage major incidents globally to reduce customer impact to an absolute minimum. You draw on your understanding of technology and the global ING organisation to fulfil your mission. You Align with local and domain major incident managers, and global squads. It further supports the organisation by identifying and addressing root causes of problems, track issues, and maintain accurate system configurations to prevent future disruptions. A learning environment is created based on the principle of blameless retrospections.

Key responsibilities

The Chapter Lead is responsible for:

  • Develops, innovates, matures & implements the operational SRE practices and related IT processes across ING, in cooperation with the entity-level SRE teams
  • Defines the global standards for reliability practices and the major incident process.
  • Ensures proper documentation, training material and other ways to get the knowledge to our engineers across ING
  • provide expertise to ensure high quality root-cause analysis and ensure follow-up of structural findings with Tech domains.
  • Sets the standards for the expert team and takes responsibility for developing, innovating, and safeguarding expertise knowledge.
  • Develops and leads people to meet both their individual goals, career goals, organization's goals.
  • Commitment to on-call duties and 24/7 availability

Requirements  

  • 10-15+ years in software engineering / IT operations and/or software architect roles
  • Knowledgeable about technology from infrastructure to front-end, from CI/CD to observability tooling
  • Hands-on experience on one or more levels (e.g. infrastructure & back-end development and/or observability & CI/CD tooling).

Tool Experience

You have a solid understanding of ING Private cloud or Public cloud (Azure or Google cloud) and related VM/container stacks & tooling; application-level technologies & tooling heavily in use at ING e.g. spring boot; java / kotlin; pega; Lit-HTML; ING’s API SDK; Azure DevOps; or configuring/building out a CoTS solution within ING; Prometheus / ELK stack / Tracing or ING’s specific implementations (e.g. RTK2, Log4All, MDPL).
