Your role and work environment:

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Head of CAS to join our ING Hub Spain Team of Global Corporate Audit Services.

Corporate Audit Services (CAS) is INGs internal audit department. The role of CAS is to provide an independent assessment of the design and effectiveness of ING's internal controls. CAS staff work closely with business lines and support functions to identify emerging risks. Through a combination of expertise in technology, data analytics, and risk management, the team delivers actionable recommendations that support the organization to address control deficiencies and drive continuous improvement.

As IT Audit Department Head Retail Branches, you are responsible for the technical IT audits in Spain, Italy and Romania. This role involves managing a team of eight individuals. You report hierarchically to the Global Audit Division Head Technology & Operations (T&O) and will have also have a reporting line to Global Audit Division Head Retail Rest of World being overall audit responsible for the countries involved.

Your key responsibilities:

In collaboration with the Global Audit Division Head T&O, you are responsible for setting the strategic direction for your department. You collaborate closely with senior management to define audit priorities, provide input to the audit strategy and translate the audit strategy into a detailed planning of individual audits. Your role demands awareness of the latest developments in the field of IT auditing to reflect the latest risks, technologies, and regulatory expectations.

You are responsible for maintaining the audit quality, ensuring that all audits comply with audit standards and meet the agreed deadlines. Your leadership is instrumental in turning insights into meaningful recommendations that strengthen the organisation’s internal controls and support continuous improvement. By managing a team of skilled professionals, you cultivate their growth through consistent coaching, feedback, and day-to-day supervision. You coach, evaluate and provide regular feedback to your team members.

What are we looking for?

You possess a thorough understanding of technical IT environments and demonstrate strong analytical skills to identify key risk areas. You are able to collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Your relationship-building skills help you handle complex situations and encourage an open dialogue, even when perspectives may vary.

You have experience in managing and coaching professional teams, ensuring that high standards are consistently met. You excel at strategic planning, allocating resources effectively, and inspiring a culture of performance and continuous improvement. Your leadership fosters collaboration and professional growth within the team.

You are proactive, able to challenge established practices and actively seek innovative solutions to support management in addressing audit observations. You are able to communicate recommendations with clarity and persuasion, ensuring that audit observations are understood and translated into impactful organizational actions.

You are a team player who enjoys working in an international team, and you actively collaborate with the global IT Audit team. As ING continues to evolve, its IT landscape is becoming increasingly globally organized. This transition means that collaboration with other teams across the ING network will become ever more critical.

As an Audit Department Head, you:

  • have a master degree, preferably in Information Technology, Auditing or Risk
  • are a certified auditor, e.g. Certified Public Auditor (CPA), Certified IT Auditor, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information System Auditor (CISA)
  • have minimum 5 years of experience as Audit Manager
  • have technical knowledge of information technology and security
  • have experience with data analytics, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing tools
  • have effective communication skills to the level to executive management
  • have experience with international and complex organisations
  • are fluent in English
