ING Bank covers Wholesale and Retail Banking in Asia Pacific. Our Wholesale Banking business is present and active in 11 major economies in the Asia Pacific, namely China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Job Purpose

  • Advises, structures and executes primarily lending transactions, but also assists in executing Financial Markets (FM) and/or Transaction Services (TS) products to provide products tailored to customer requirements.
  • Undertakes activities which include pitching, credit analysis, modelling, writing credit applications, negotiations and documentation on new transactions as well as all monitoring tasks that come with the management of an existing portfolio of lending and FM/TS limits, including reviews, covenant monitoring and all regulatory reporting, to provide a comprehensive service for ING.
  • Keeps track of market developments for lending in the jurisdictions and/or sectors covered to be able to adapt and respond to current situations.

Key Responsibilities

With a focus on corporate clients and the guidance of the Team Head or other senior members in the team (where applicable), to perform the following duties within the scope of corporate lending (with products including but not limited to revolving credits and term loans plus FM and TS products, on bilateral or syndicated basis):-

  • Prepare credit proposals and manage the credit approval process for each transaction, ensuring follow-up on post-approval conditions and covenants.
  • Advise clients on structuring of deals and cooperate in negotiations and client meetings.
  • Give Sector teams support and advice on all aspects of lending products and provide advice on issues related to all risk and return related drivers.
  • Execute and maintain high quality lending execution activities, including participation in negotiation of documentation with clients, coordinating with Risk and Legal teams (if required, with external legal counsel).
  • Ensure appropriate portfolio management through monitoring and annual (and/or group) reviews. This includes responsibility for the quality of his/her credit files (costs, actual losses (co-responsibility), data quality, effectiveness, accuracy/efficiency, timeliness).
  • Seek and pursue new opportunities with both existing and new clients in cooperation with the Sector teams (i.e. the relationship management teams) by actively pursuing bilateral, club-type and/or syndicated transactions.
  • To work in conjunction with the Team Head to achieve the KPIs for the location.

Person Specifications

To be considered for this role, you should ideally possess the following pre-requisites:

  • Degree holder in finance, accounting, economics, law or comparable
  • At least 5 years of diversified and proven deal making/credit experience in (international) wholesale financial services
  • Experience in bi-lateral, club-type and/or syndicated lending transactions
  • Good knowledge of the Korea market is an added advantage
  • Strong financial and analytical skills and has an eye for details
  • Is “Hands-on” and possess a positive and “can do” attitude
  • A strong team player with good interpersonal skills
  • An effective communicator who is fluent in English, both verbally and written
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
