ING Australia’s growing Wholesale Bank is looking to hire a Vice President – Corporate Sales for our Financial Markets team based in Sydney.

We are looking for an experienced corporate salesperson to join our Sydney based dealing room. The role requires someone to build and maintain relationships with ING Wholesale Banking clients, with majority of time spent marketing and originating business opportunities for the ING franchise.

Financial Markets Sales originates, structures and executes a wide range of risk management solutions for corporate and public sector clients across Australia and New Zealand. It delivers a broad range of products spanning interest rates, foreign exchange, equity derivatives, and commodities. In addition, we have strong capabilities in bespoke solutions such as deal contingent hedging, margin lending, hedge solutions, sustainable products, as well as structured loans.

Reporting directly to our Head of Financial Markets Australia, this role will inherit an existing client set and will work closely with the DCM, LCM, and Coverage teams in growing the franchise among existing and target clients, as well as working closely with trading, structuring and Risk in developing compelling risk management solutions for their clients.

What you’ll do

  • Originate, structure, market and execute risk management solutions (with a focus on interest rate derivatives) for AU and NZ Corporate and Public Sector entities, in coordination with various structuring and trading desks at ING
  • Play an active role in strategic development of a sustainable FM client business in Australia and New Zealand
  • Develop strong relationships with clients. Work with and build on and existing client portfolio in Australia and New Zealand (Across infrastructure, real estate, energy, technology, and other diversified corporate clients)
  • Drive and grow the ING wallet across existing products by leveraging ING resources globally
  • Comply with internal policies to achieve high level of work ethic and professionalism
  • Work independently and with the team, as well as with other offshore Sales teams effectively (Execution, FX/Rates Origination, Credit Origination, Financing, Client Solutions, Distribution/Loan Sales etc) to achieve targets. Close alignment with Sydney based Sector Coverage teams
  • Have a strong grasp of various concepts related to derivative credit exposure. Ability to calculate XVA & funding impact of derivative products, with strong intuition on the impact of different credit mitigation strategies on swap credit charges. Ability to calculate and effectively interpret derivative pre settlement exposures and engage in conversations with Credit Risk to obtain pre-trade credit approvals

What we’re looking for

  • 5 + years’ experience Initiating/building long term sustainable client and stakeholder relationships
  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field
  • Strong sales skills, with the ability to engage in frequent conversations with client contacts, to understand client needs and deliver appropriate products and solutions to meet such needs
  • Strong understanding of global markets and derivatives across asset classes including IRS, XCCY Swaps, Options etc. Price all components of derivative transactions and analyse associated risks. Ability to liaise with various internal trading / structuring teams to construct bespoke solutions using one or a combination of aforementioned products, to address a variety of client needs (hedging, financing, accounting, tax etc.)
  • Be responsible for identifying client needs related to, amongst others, risk management, structured financing across asset classes, asset-liability mismatches, yield enhancement, subsidiary financing, cross border solutions etc. Acumen to understand and analyse clients’ businesses and exposures to provide best suited solutions across asset classes
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter with commercial drive and results focused. Positive attitude and “can do” mindset. Openness to learn and develop
  • Multi-asset product background ranging from flow to non-flow to high value transactions
  • Genuine team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
