Consultant to the Global Head of ING Private Cloud

Presenta la candidatura

This role is identical to a Business Manager role. You’re the right hand, trusted advisor, and representative of the Global Tribe Lead of the ING Private Cloud (IPC). You’re involved in almost everything he does, and by closely working together, you help to manage the Tribe effectively. You are in touch with IPC’s stakeholders regularly, including CIOs and IT Leads of 16+ ING entities currently running on IPC. That means you get to operate at senior management level every day, in one of the most dynamic and complex parts of the bank.

  • You help shape the Tribe’s strategy and roadmap, and you’re involved in reporting to various boards. Once you’re up to speed, you chair these meetings on behalf of the Tribe Lead. You keep track of KPIs and make sure we’re moving in the right direction.

  • You manage or support big projects: think cloud migrations, ECB audits, and transformation programs. You’re the go-to person for a wide range of stakeholders, both inside and outside ING.

  • You make sure there’s continuity and follow-up across the Tribe and the Management Team (MT). You help set priorities, keep things on track, and drive progress in an international, fast-paced environment.

  • You’re the linking pin that connects the Tribe. People know where to find you, and they trust you. You work across departments, countries, and functions to make sure everyone’s aligned.

You also support the Management Team on a daily basis. You discuss what’s going on, help set the agenda, and make sure actions are followed up. You’re a sparring partner to the whole MT and involved in a wide range of topics: HR, Finance, Risk, Operations, Marketing & Communication, and Regulatory Affairs. The team relies on you.

And within the Tribe, you help build a sense of community. You organize things like the Coffee Corner and Product Manager Day, act as the eyes and ears on the floor, and make sure colleagues from different ING hubs and cultures feel connected.

Organizational context

ING Private Cloud is ING’s own global cloud platform. It provides secure, scalable, and efficient infrastructure services to almost every part of the bank. In simple terms: IPC makes it possible for ING teams around the world to use the hardware in our global data centers, without having to worry about what’s under the hood.

We’re one of the few banks in Europe that run our own professional-grade Private Cloud. And in today’s world, where geopolitical tensions are rising and digital sovereignty is becoming more important, IPC is more strategic than ever.

The Tribe Cloud team consists of around 310 people, spread across five areas, each offering its own set of cloud services to internal consumers. Most colleagues are based in the Netherlands, but we also have strong teams in Poland, Belgium, Romania, Spain, Turkey and Manila. The MT includes five IT Area Leads, the Tribe Lead, and the Consultant.

Tribe Cloud is part of the Global Infrastructure department, which also includes Tribe Hybrid Cloud Overlay, Tribe Data Center & Networks, Tribe Managed Services & Operations, the Infra Architecture team, and the Centre of Expertise Infrastructure Strategy & Enablement. Together, we build and maintain all of ING’s Global infrastructure.

The Tribe Lead of IPC reports directly to the CIO of Global Infrastructure, who in turn reports to the CTO. That means you’ll be working in a part of the organization that’s close to the core of ING’s tech strategy and where the impact of your work is felt across the entire bank.

Key responsibilities

1. Strategic Support & Execution

  • Serve as a trusted sparring partner and right hand to the Global Head of IPC. The Management Team (MT) also relies on you as a key point of coordination and collaboration.

  • Support the definition, execution, and monitoring of strategic goals and priorities.

  • Drive key initiatives such as setting up a Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process, guiding major consulting projects, and supporting complex migration programs.

  • Step in to bridge gaps when needed through spotting opportunities and turning them into meaningful outcomes.

2. Operational Excellence

  • Operate daily at senior management level on topics related to HR, Finance, Risk, Operations, Marketing & Communication, and Regulatory Affairs.

  • Prepare and facilitate key meetings including management team sessions, townhalls, and offsites. Chair the weekly Management Team (MT) meeting, ensuring follow-up on actions and decisions.

  • Draft reports, presentations, and briefing materials for senior stakeholders. Prepare materials for high-level meetings such as the Supervisory Board, Management Board Banking, ECB, MT CTO, and various steercos and boards.

  • Ensure consistency and quality in management reporting and KPIs.

3. Project & Portfolio Management

  • Lead or support cross-functional projects and initiatives across the department.

  • Help coordinating dynamic planning (DP) and forecasting processes.

  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and impact.

4. Stakeholder Management & Engagement

  • Act as a linking pin between departments, countries, and functions.

  • Build and maintain strong internal networks for better collaboration.

  • Represent the department in various program boards and steering committees.

5. Culture & Events

  • Organize and coordinate major events such as department celebrations, the annual Cloud Fun Day, and internal conferences.

  • Help shape a positive and engaging team culture through well-executed initiatives and experiences.

Key responsibilities may vary over time, depending on where the greatest need lies, and on what you believe matters most.

  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on mindset – You combine long-term vision with practical execution. You’re just as comfortable shaping strategy as you are making sure the day-to-day runs smoothly.

  • Connector and bridge-builder – You naturally bring people together, build trust across teams and departments, and help others move in the same direction, even when the path isn’t clear.

  • Delivery-driven and adaptable – You focus on outcomes, not just activity. You know how to shift gears quickly, step in where it matters most, and keep momentum going in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong communicator – You know how to get your message across. Whether you're aligning stakeholders or writing a sharp update, you make sure people understand and stay engaged. You're also skilled in using tools like PowerPoint and Excel to support your message with clear visuals and data.

  • Process-minded with an eye for improvement – You’re always looking for ways to do things better. Whether it’s a recurring process or a one-off project, you bring structure, clarity, and efficiency.

  • Structured and detail-aware – You manage your own priorities with ease, bring order to complexity, and never lose sight of the details that make the difference.

  • Confident and grounded – You’re not easily shaken. You hold your own in senior-level discussions, you speak with, and know when to push back or stand firm.

  • Culturally aware and people-savvy – You understand how to navigate different perspectives, cultures, and personalities. You create a safe, trusted space where people feel heard and included. You are able to engage with all levels across the organization – from engineer to CTO.

  • Inspiring and empowering – You lead by example, trust others to do their best work, and help people grow by giving them space, support, and clear expectations.

  • A Master’s degree or equivalent.

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

  • Project- or program management experience.

  • High proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Affinity with Infrastructure or Cloud is a pre. However, the previous three Consultants didn’t have a tech background, success in this role is driven by curiosity. If you're smart, a fast learner, and thrive on challenges, you can make this domain your own.

We offer you

  • Learn from the top – You represent a senior leader, gaining exposure to high-level topics while still having room to grow and make mistakes.

  • Broad network – You work with people across ING, far beyond just IPC or Infra.

  • Dynamic environment – A stimulating setting with constant developments, there’s always something going on.

  • Real impact – Your work matters. You help shape direction and make things happen.

  • Tech exposure – Great chance to deepen your knowledge of private cloud and IT infrastructure.
