How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

To be successful in this internship, you:

• Are creative and enjoy thinking beyond established solutions, while being able to turn ideas into concrete propositions.

organisations or countries and considering how they could be applied in a banking environment.

• Have strong analytical skills and can structure complex topics into clear insights and recommendations.

• Are a team player who enjoys working with people from different backgrounds and can quickly integrate into a collaborative environment.

• Are completing a Master of Science in Sustainability, with a clear interest in climate change, climate adaptation and/or environmental sciences, and can apply your academic knowledge to concrete business challenges and client journeys.

As an Intern in the ESG CoE, you will have the opportunity to:

• Gain first-hand insight into how sustainability is embedded in Business Banking strategy and translated into meaningful client conversations.

• Work on real-world challenges at the intersection of climate, business, finance and innovation.

• Explore emerging themes such as climate adaptation, urban resilience, and the transition of businesses and real estate.

• Collaborate with sustainability experts, Relationship Managers and specialists from across ING.

• Strengthen your ability to translate complex sustainability challenges into practical business solutions and compelling client propositions.

The team

The ESG Center of Expertise supports Business Banking in turning sustainability challenges into relevant opportunities, client conversations and concrete solutions. Our work sits at the intersection of sustainability, business strategy, risk and client needs. We develop approaches and tools that help our colleagues better understand the transition and resilience challenges faced by clients and identify where ING can make a difference.

As an intern, you will become a real member of the team. You will work on topics that are still evolving, where the answer is not always known in advance. We expect you to research, challenge us, bring ideas from outside ING and help us experiment with new approaches. This internship is therefore particularly suited to someone who likes combining analytical thinking with creativity and wants to understand how a bank can contribute to the transition and resilience of businesses and society.
