Job Overview

The primary function of a Senior Java Engineer is to create, develop and support the advanced business applications of the Wholesale Lending line of business within ING. Responsibilities of the role include searching and proposing solutions using new technologies as well as managing risks through secure coding practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical ownership of mission critical systems of ING, this includes design, change, security and risk management for a given system
• Technical leadership is also a key responsibility of the position. There is a need for this position to be able to spearhead changes in the team, this includes creating better ways of working as well as creating tools and systems that will benefit the team
• Stakeholder management is another responsibility of the engineer. As the technical leader, there is an expectation to be able to balance both the delivery of new features as well as the stability and risk of the whole team’s technical infrastructure
• Individual contribution towards writing code and tests for the system are also required

Key Capabilities/Experience

• Candidate must be comfortable with spearheading technical changes
• Candidate must be proficient in conducting technical discussions with architects, engineers, and business line stakeholders
• Candidate must be a proficient with creating or modifying features with an emphasis on risk, stability, and security management

Minimum Qualifications

• Proficient level knowledge of Java fundamentals (minimum Java 8)
• Proficient level knowledge of Spring Boot and Spring Framework
• Proficient level knowledge of RDBS
• Proficient level knowledge of Microservice Architecture
• Proficient level knowledge of Event Driven Architecture
• Proficient level in technical design principles and patterns
• Competent level in CI/CD tools
• Proficient level knowledge of secure design and coding
