Job Profile Summary

The Sector Lending team covers clients across all industry sectors that ING focuses on and provides lending solutions across a spectrum of lending products. For this position, transactions you will be working on include project finance, asset-based finance, cash flow lending and other structured lending deals originated in China and Hong Kong. You will work on deals in close collaboration with the ING Sector teams covering sectors including i) Real Estate Finance ii) Telecom, Media, Technology and Healthcare and iii) Transportation, and Logistics. This is a mid-level lending professional role within the front office. The work will be fast-paced and multifaceted. On the team, you will also be exposed to, and expected to work with, 1-2 specific other sectors in which ING specializes.

The vacancy involves regular contact with clients, prospects, other banks, technical and legal advisors and frequent cooperation with internal departments such as Portfolio Management, Credit Risk Management, Legal, and Deal Execution, as well as other products such as Loan Distribution Group, Financial Markets and Transaction Services.

Job Responsibilities:

The candidate will be expected to manage new structured lending transactions, work closely with the client relationship managers and/or Deal Principals and take responsibility for many of the key lending execution processes, which include:

  • Financial and credit analysis on existing and prospect clients.
  • Preparing and efficiently processing credit approval packages.
  • Building and preparing financial models with sensitivity analysis and validation of key assumptions.
  • Interfacing with loan operations, treasury and the lending center of excellence units to verify limit availability, and compliance with internal policies.
  • Oversee and coordinate deal closing including final CPs and obtaining the final loan documents.
  • Preparation of marketing materials and lending analytics for clients.
  • Term sheet negotiations and forming a club or syndication.
  • Analysis of different transaction structures and providing recommendations.
  • Preparing business comparable and analysis of debt structures, performance metrics and debt pricing.
  • Attending client team meetings and attend calls with clients including for transaction-related due diligence.
  • Staying current on organizational operating policies and procedures (i.e. Risk, Legal, etc.) to ensure appropriate protocols are implemented and followed, and facilitate accordingly.
  • Enhancing internal processes, suggesting efficiency improvements.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with our Sector Coverage teams in China and Hong Kong to originate and expand our business with prospective and existing clients, with a focus on offering lending products.
  • Advise, structure and execute lending transactions, as the lending specialist acting as the point person in client discussions when it comes to the lending product.
  • Prepare presentations and other materials for pitches to clients.
  • Preparing credit proposals and manage the credit approval process for lending, trade finance and financial market limits and act as the main point of contact for the Risk Manager.
  • Negotiating and reviewing term sheets and legal documentation and validating key terms & conditions to ensure these reflect the credit approval conditions and otherwise balance risk appetite in the optimal way.
  • Preparing and reviewing due diligence including summarizing and performing analytics.
  • Ensuring a consistent level of quality and policy compliance through training and development activities.
  • Cultivating a cohesive team environment by consistently providing guidance, mentorship and training to support and develop new and junior team member.
  • Support lending related projects, policy changes, etc. as part of change management, where required under relevant WB transformation/change strategies.

What we're looking for:

Qualifications / Education:

  • Master’s degree in finance/economics/accounting/management/engineering (or similar) is a plus.
  • Certification from the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) as Associate Credit Risk Management Professional or levels above is a plus.

Experience / Knowledge:

  • 7+ years of relevant WB lending experience.
  • Significant experience in the Sectors in which ING is active.
