Lune - ITP Business Banking

The first leap into reality

Lune-itp

Before joining ING, Lune was already someone who thrived on new experiences. So, when the opportunity came to study abroad in Australia, it felt like a natural next step, a continuation of her lifelong desire to explore the world and meet new people. That spirit of curiosity and openness is something she now brings to her professional life. She was drawn to the close connection with senior leadership through mentoring, the international dimension of the International Talent Programme (ITP), and ING’s proactive culture, embodied by the Orange Code value: “take it on and make it happen.” The ITP, to her, is an open call to be critical and bold.

Letting go of perfectionism

Lune started her first rotation as a banker in Business Banking, working directly with clients and attending regional management meetings. In her second rotation, she moved to the central sales team, supporting the Head of Business Banking Sales as Business Manager. There, she contributed to preparing Executive Committee presentations, organising events, managing strategic projects and communicating with sales teams across the country.

“I’m letting go of my perfectionism. I now understand that doing things well is more important than doing them flawlessly.”

A standout moment? Completing her first full client analysis: an achievement that helped secure a new relationship for ING. But not everything came easily. “Finding a suitable international assignment turned out to be a long work in progress,” she admits. Through the uncertainty, she’s learning to embrace ambiguity and stay focused on progress.

Being challenged, being heard

Lune brings a dual perspective to her work. Thanks to her experience both in the field and at headquarters, she helps bridge the gap between front-line teams and internal stakeholders. And at ING, she feels that her voice matters.

“At ING, I’ve been in meetings with senior leaders who really value my perspective as a trainee. I feel part of the conversation.”

Outside the office, she’s been a scout leader for over five years, where she thrives on teamwork, purpose, and cross-generational camaraderie. “It’s about connection and doing something meaningful together.” She also benefits from such experience when challenged by the ITP’s fast-paced nature. “Just when you start to feel comfortable, it’s time to rotate again,” she laughs. “But that’s also what makes it rewarding.”

Personal growth beyond the scoreboard

For Lune, one of the biggest shifts has been moving away from the student mindset. “It’s no longer about high grades or perfect outcomes. It’s about growth, failing sometimes and learning through it.” She now sees work as a space to develop, to contribute, and to connect. “What matters is the process, not just the result.” She also values the casual, supportive community within the ITP, where peers from different backgrounds and departments share ideas, laugh, and lift each other up. “It’s an energising community. We’re all different, but we’re growing together.”

A message for the future ITP community:
Say yes to the unknown, discover the unexpected

"Be open-minded, and be clear with yourself about what you want to learn," Lune says. "Try different things and push yourself outside your comfort zone, you might discover interests and talents you never expected."
