Backend Software Engineer - EBICS Payment Platform @ING Hubs Romania

• Build backend services for EBICS payment workflows using Python/Golang/Java/Bash;
• Design APIs that solve real payment problems ;
• Understand and implement payment flows: authorization, clearing, settlement, reconciliation;
• Own deployment of your services via Azure DevOps pipelines and Ansible playbooks;
• Learn Axway integration for secure message transport in banking;
• Collaborate with ops and security teams on reliability and compliance;
• Debug production issues in a financial system where availability is non-negotiable;
• Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.

Core Responsibilities

• Write clean, testable backend code in bash/golang;
• Implement business logic correctly (understand payment terminology, not just APIs);
• Deploy and monitor your own services;
• Integrate with payment protocols (EBICS, SWIFT, SEPA ISO 20022);
• Maintain secure, compliant code; understand why security matters in banking;
• Document your decisions and teach others how systems work.

Technologies You'll Use

• Languages: Python, Golang, Java (depends on codebase section);
• Databases: Oracle;
• Messaging: Axway, CFT;
• Deployment: Azure DevOps, Ansible;
• Cloud: Internal cloud VMs, potentially in the future Kubernetes;
• Testing: K6, Behave, unit testing frameworks;
• Security: encryption, digital signatures, certificate management.

Technical Skills

• Strong in at least one: Python, Golang, Java, or modern language;
• Comfortable with: Oracle databases, REST APIs, basic Linux;
• Familiar with: Git, automated testing, release processes;
• Experience with: Deploying code (CI/CD, containers, cloud platforms);
• Basic understanding of: Azure DevOps and/or Ansible.

Business Mindset

• Genuine curiosity about how banking and payments work;
• Willingness to learn payment terminology;
• Comfortable asking "why" - understanding business context before coding.

Nice-to-Have

• Professional experience with EBICS, SWIFT, or payments;
• Knowledge of Axway;
• Azure DevOps pipeline experience;
• Python + Golang (one strong, learning the other is fine);
• SELinux or Linux security.
