About the team

You will be part of a multidisciplinary DevOps squad with end-to-end responsibility for ING Private Cloud services.

The role sits within the Compute & Storage Chapter, focusing on:

• infrastructure reliability and predictability
• monitoring and alerting capabilities
• enabling teams to operate efficiently in an Agile & DevOps environment.

Your day to day

• Work within the Tech/Infra team as a VMware DevOps Engineer;
• Contribute to delivering reliable, secure, and cost-efficient IT infrastructure services;
• Support an environment where infrastructure services are available on-demand via self-service portals and APIs;
• Act as a core member of a DevOps squad, with end-to-end ownership of infrastructure services;
• Maintain, improve, and automate the VMware technology stack (ESXi, vRealize);
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve potential issues;
• Enable internal teams (consumer squads) to work effectively in an Agile & DevOps setup;
• Integrate monitoring and alerting solutions with internal tooling (e.g. helpdesk systems via APIs);
• Perform capacity and performance management of virtualized environments.

What you bring to the team

• 5+ years of experience managing enterprise-level VMware environments;
• Strong expertise in VMware virtualization (datacenter level), Server hardware and infrastructure;
• Hands-on experience with PowerShell (automation and scripting), Git (version control), Azure DevOps / TFS;
• Experience in performance and capacity management in virtual environments, working in Agile and DevOps environments;
• Solid understanding of storage technologies and architectures;
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent experience;
• Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).

Nice to have

• VMware certifications (e.g. VCP-DCV / VMware Cloud certification);
• Experience with hybrid cloud solutions;
• Knowledge of JavaScript or other programming languages;
• Experience in high-performing Agile teams;
• Dutch language skills.
