The Opportunity

We're looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join our Wholesale Banking Technology Lending COI 2 team.

In this role, you'll design, build, and support business-critical applications that enable the Wholesale Lending business. You'll collaborate closely with engineers in Manila, stakeholders across the business, and colleagues in the Netherlands to deliver innovative solutions that create real business value.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and enhance applications supporting the Wholesale Lending business.
• Build scalable, secure, and resilient Java-based solutions.
• Develop and maintain RESTful microservices using modern engineering practices.
• Support the delivery and deployment of applications across their lifecycle.
• Research and propose innovative technologies and solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers, product stakeholders, and international teams to deliver high-quality software.
• Contribute to Agile and DevOps ways of working to drive continuous improvement.

What You'll Bring

Technical Expertise

• Strong experience in Java 8, with knowledge of Java 11+ considered an advantage.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Spring Boot
  • Spring MVC
  • Spring Batch
  • REST API development
  • Hibernate Framework
• Solid understanding of:
  • Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • Design Patterns
  • Microservices Architecture
  • Scalability and Distributed Systems

Additional Skills

• Experience with ING technologies such as Merak, Touchpoint, and Kafka.
• Knowledge of DevOps and Continuous Delivery tools including:
  • Jenkins
  • Artifactory
  • Git
  • TFS
  • Azure DevOps
• Experience working with:
  • Docker
  • OpenShift
  • Containerized environments
• Scripting skills in Bash or Python.
• Experience working within Agile and DevOps environments.
