At the beginning of your traineeship you’ll rotate between different projects and departments within your track. After your rotations, you get to choose your long term position based on your experience and area of interest.

This is a comprehensive programme that provides talented graduates with the knowledge, skills and on-the-job experience to become ING’s future leaders. We offer you the chance to shape your own ideas about banking in a receptive environment.

The programme is truly international with over 100 trainees in 14 different countries. For each year of the programme there will be a global event designed as a bootcamp to develop your personal skill in the process.

Key responsibilities:

The role offers a unique mix of product strategy & development, market and process analysis and commercial impact activities, aiming at building and managing 100% digital banking capabilities, tailored on our customer’s needs.

Your main activities will be:

  • Works independently to execute standard tasks and under guidance on complex ones. May combine tools and techniques to deliver an optimal outcome.
  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation elaborating solutions to reduce friction and to optimize the existing processes;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, test and launch new product features;
  • Recognizes when more information is required to identify or solve a problem and determines how to gather this input
  • Generates different solutions, weighing the pros and cons of each to identify the most suitable
  • Generates well-formed ideas that have the potential to provide effective alternative methods of working for self and the team

What your first 6‑month rotation will let you focus on

Your first 6‑month rotation will take place within the Business Banking domain, with a specific focus on the Digital Growth & Sales team. In this role, you will contribute to digital‑led growth initiatives aimed at acquiring, activating and engaging entrepreneurs, starters and founders as clients of our newly launched ING Business Banking, and supporting them thereby to make their business grow.

You will support activities spanning customer intelligence and analytics, digital acquisition and activation strategies, and the development of digital sales initiatives across all channels, with particular attention to the onboarding and honeymoon phase. The rotation will also expose you to content and community‑building initiatives, as well as to digital acquisition partnerships with external players, helping scale growth through innovative collaboration models.

Throughout the rotation, you will work closely with cross‑functional stakeholders such as Marketing, Digital, Product, Finance and Risk, gaining high visibility on strategic growth initiatives and developing strong analytical, execution and stakeholder management skills within the Business Banking context.

What about your second rotation

With these new experiences and contacts, you are in charge to arrange your second rotation (6 months). Now it comes down to addressing your network and taking the initiative, also for an international experience that could be relevant for your personal and professional development. 

Your second year
After two rotations, you now have a better understanding of which direction you would like to go and are ready to choose your third rotation. Are you broadening your knowledge within your track, or would you like to explore an area within another track? Both are an option for this rotation!

During your third rotation you will set the stage for your fixed position, in the same Tribe in which you landed at the beginning of the program, or in another position of your interest among the available opportunities within ING.

What we offer:

Global events. Access to yearly 2-3 weeks global events with other ING International Talent Programme talents from all around the world.

Job rotations. Insights in various business units during the first 18 months and work abroad into one of our ING countries for 3 - 6 months (if circumstances allow).

International onboarding. Following your local onboarding introduction, you will fly to our headquarters in Amsterdam for a one week-long international onboarding event (if circumstances allow).

Trainings & learning experiences in different business lines to boost your knowledge and skill set.

Mentoring. Experienced ING executives will support your personal and professional development through regular feedback and coaching.

What we’re looking for:

  • You have a Bachelor/Master degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem solving
  • You have an innovative take on banking and an unconditional drive to turn your ideas into reality
  • You are enthusiastic and consider the interests of our customers and your colleagues
  • You act with integrity and responsibility.
  • You are fluent in English and Italian; foreign candidates have an advanced knowledge of Italian (at least B2)
  • You have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience
