Overview

Trading Risk Management (TRM) is responsible for the daily measurement, control and assessment of the market risk profile of the trading and banking (Treasury) books and provides advice to senior management on risk positions in ING Bank Seoul Korea. The department is arranged to mimic the financial markets business lines / asset classes structure within ING.

This role covers the market risk mainly for linear FX and Rates Trading desk that operate out of Seoul. It involves monitoring and reporting risk exposures against the bank’s approved risk appetite, mandates and limits. In addition, the role includes monitoring and control responsibilities for market risk in the banking book, primarily related to Treasury activities, as well as liquidity risk management for the Seoul branch.

Job Responsibilities

As an Analyst in TRM function, principal tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Responsible for accurate and timely delivery of daily/monthly Risk reports of FM Trading desks and Treasury in Seoul with appropriate attribution analysis.
  • Perform regular Risk analysis independently and collaboratively within the team.
  • Ensure market risk limits excesses are rectified/explained or escalated.
  • Ensure timely escalation and resolution of related issues, if any, that impact efficient risk management.
  • Keep track of market developments/changes pro-actively and its impact on trading strategy highlighting changes and issues to local management as well as the discussion with Front Office.
  • Provide market risk assessment to senior stakeholders in the business while also taking on ad hoc tasks, as allocated by the team lead.
  • Develop understanding of and perform analysis on key risk metrics, including Stress Testing and IRRBB.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the products and markets covered by the trading and banking desks.
  • Analyze Market data and parameters used for risk control.
  • Participate various internal projects led by Trading and Banking Risk.
  • Support risk management and local regulatory reporting requirements for Seoul branch, ensuring compliance with applicable local regulations.

Person Specifications

To be considered for this role, the applicant would ideally possess the following pre-requisites:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree; Preferred Major in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Finance/Economics/Business Administration or other relevant field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Market Risk management
  • Good command of English, both speaking and writing
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Proactive mindset with a strong willingness to learn new products, processes and asset classes, along with a keen interest in financial markets
  • Highly competent with Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel. Preferred experience of programming skills / familiarity with VBA
