Job Description

The team that you will be joining is a multidisciplinary and cross-functional team with end-to-end responsibility for Global Data Centres Services and the delivery of these services to ING’s business. You will work closely together with the other teams within ING. As Datacenter Program Manager you are a member of the Global Data Centres Services department, team OPS2. 

 This team is responsible for all activities within the white space of the ING Data Centres. These activities include: 

  • Managing the overall capacity planning for power, cooling, space and networking for optimal Data Centre usage and scalability 

  • Managing physical access and security to all data hall. 

  • Leading global Data Centre programs aimed at consolidating infrastructure, reducing footprints, and optimizing efficiency across international sites

  • Develop and implement new tools and technologies around and in the Data Centre

  • Convince Higher Management about future steps to improve and explain the benefits of the investments. 

  • Discover new tools and technologies around and in the Data Centre.

  • Follow trends in the market and act on it.

  • Automate our processes, applications and implement AI.

Roles and responsibilities

As a Datacenter Program Manager, you will be responsible for the physical deployment and maintenance of critical IT hardware and cabling systems. Your key tasks include: 

  • Act as an internal consultant for local datacentre sites globally, providing guidance on global standards, best practices, and infrastructure alignment.  

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify scope & drive programs. Ensure program decisions align with long-term company strategy, scalability & operational readiness. 

  • Define clear program goals, success criteria and priorities. Translate organizational objectives and requirements into executable programs.

  • Manage relationships and deliverables with strategic vendors and internal stakeholders, ensuring execution aligns with program timelines, quality standards, and contractual SLAs.

  • Coordinate and drive end-to-end execution across programs. Track schedules, dependencies and milestones while holding stakeholders accountable to commitments and timelines.

  • Establish and track success metrics in partnerships with stakeholders. Provide regular updates on execution, risk and manage expectations properly towards leadership.

  • Drive risk management across programs. Identify dependencies & risks early and lead mitigation planning.

  • You at least have a diploma in IT, Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline 

  • You must have basic knowledge of electrical safety standards, preferably NEN3140 (VOP Minimum, VP preferred) 

  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Dutch 

  • You have a valid VCA 

  • You have a valid drivers license (B) and willing to travel between our datacentre sites 

  • You have the flexibility to work outside of standard business hours when necessary 

  • You can lead projects, create work instructions, do quality assurance and 'give hands' to the people who need it 

  • Team oriented mindset with hands on attitude and attention to detail 

  • Pre's: 

  • You have proven experience in datacenter infrastructures, like rack and stack, cold/hot aisle containment and structured cabling 

  • Advanced knowledge of fiber optics: installation, splicing, OTDR testing, troubleshooting (SingleMode and MultiMode OS2/OM4/OM5) 

  • Strong diagnostic skills in physical and data link layer networking, including resolution of port failures and signal degradation 

  • Skilled at identifying, isolating and resolving connectivity issues (loops, bad ports, mismatched optics, etc.) 

  • Familiarity with cable documentation standards and physical network design principles 

  • An extra advantage is when you have previous work experience in Electrical Engineering 

  • The locations are Rotterdam and Roosendaal 

  • You do not mind to participate in stand-by 

  • Ability to work non-office hours
