The Mission

You will work in ING’s Open Banking and XS2A area - part of CTO/Payment and Settlement Services - created to deliver ING’s Open Banking strategy. Open Banking evolves around Application Programming Interfaces (APIs): a way to easily open-up capabilities and share data. We believe it will help ING to accelerate innovation and collaboration with partners, clients and platforms to improve customer experiences and create new business models.
Key to success is our developer portal at developer.ing.com which enables parties to connect and create value in an easy, secure and scalable way.

Your team

Our developer portal is a product internally managed by a Product Lead, leading the vision and strategy.
We are seeking a customer journey expert “CJE” to join our Open Banking team - this role will have scrum Product Owner responsibilities. You will work together with other Customer Journey Experts, UX designers, architects, IT business analysts, IT integrators and DevOps engineers on delivery of Open Banking strategy and innovation.

Your main responsibilities

  • Stakeholder management: User value is our main priority. You will take the lead in continuous refinement and development of the vision and strategy. Additionally, you will be a sparring partner for the team and the product lead on several topics, ranging from managing stakeholders to telling compelling change stories;
  • Content alignment: You will continuously improve the Product and customer journey based on policy and regulatory requirements while also considering evolving commercial needs and market landscape;
  • Bridging the gap between users and developers, architects, IT business analysts: You will work closely with users, interview them, collect feedback, listen and challenge them so we can build a well-loved Product that delivers the most value;
  • Risk management: To build a safe and secure Product, you will work with the team to ensure compliance with NFR risk requirements e.g. IT risk, RCSA processes etc;
  • Knowledge Sharing:  You will continuously learn and share your experience/ knowledge with the Product Area and colleagues from different domains;
  • Agile Development:
  • You will use different ways of working like design thinking, lean startup and agility to ensure the quality of features and stories. You have an entrepreneurial mindset; think big, start small and scale fast;
  • You will drive the development squads by providing the purpose, context, priorities, and direction;
  • You will partner with the Product Lead and peers (representatives of other squads) to create and maintain a product backlog that aligns with the overall product area roadmap to maximize the business value;
  • You will design the processes and detail the specifications of the product;
  • You will develop requirements throughout the product development in the form of Features and Stories;
  • You will facilitate refinement sessions to clarify and estimate user stories;
  • You will facilitate team’s delivery by coordinating sprint activities like planning sessions, review, refinements, and demo;
  • You will protect the team and sprint against disruptions and impediments;
  • You will help the Product Lead in creating the planning of product releases, including coordination with other interdependent teams and communication with stakeholders to set the expectation for delivery of new features;
  • You will play an active role in identifying, mitigating, and communicating impediments impacting successful completion of Release/Sprint Goals.

What you’ll bring to the team

Experience: Experience: 3-5 years of experience working as Product Owner for innovating products in a technology environment/software solution;

Mandatory:

  • Experience with RESTful APIs;
  • Solid interpersonal and collaborative skills to interact with different stakeholders;
  • Good presentation skills for explaining the product you represent, along with the ability to analyze whether a requested feature is suitable for all global consumers;
  • Ability to define a set of requirements that pinpoint business challenges and identify necessary technical and business changes for the product team;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely across both technology and business teams, effectively bridging the gap between them;
  • Strong resilience: you are able to manage ambiguity and simplify complexity;
  • Excellent communication skills, with a pro-active and approachable attitude;
  • Ability to take timely and informative decisions.

Nice to have:

  • Basic knowledge of release management;
  • Experience with Azure Devops or Gitlab is considered a plus;
  • IT Landscape and software development life-cycle knowledge (experience of working with an agile methodology) would be an advantage.

Foreign languages:Fluency in English;

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in an IT related field.
