IT Support Engineer (12-Months FTC)

We are looking for an IT support Engineer to join our local local IT department in ING Dublin. The department provides operational support to the business in the form of Helpdesk technical services to all staff locally. We also perform project implementation/facilitation, manage hardware, and liaise with international IT teams regularly as part of our membership of the wider Wholesale Banking EMEA Tech organisation.

The team

Working as an IT Support Engineer in a largely self-coordinating local team that works with the wider ING Wholesale Bank TECH organisation, you will become part of a small team who strive to respond quickly and effectively to the IT needs of the local business by assisting in resolving IT issues in a timely manner, and by effectively implementing and assisting with IT projects as they arise. 

Roles and responsibilities

  • IT support to office-based and remote workers using Windows 11, via Microsoft Teams and video conferencing technology.

  • Supporting MS Teams Meeting Rooms (NUC / Logi A/V kit, and Intune).

  • Logging support tickets, updating the knowledge base, and managing the backlog in ServiceNow.

  • Ensuring excellent customer service by efficiently and appropriately addressing customer needs.

  • Assisting in training and induction sessions for staff on software/applications and hardware usage.

  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels of the organization.

  • Supporting local IT project management activities.

  • Building and deployment of laptops/desktop systems.

  • Managing the onboarding / offboarding of staff.

  • Administering the Windows 11 laptop estate using the MS Azure platform.

  • Administering 1st Line Active Directory and resolving TCP/IP DNS/DHCP issues in the office.

  • Providing 1st Line support for corporate telephony devices and managing local managed printers.

  • Assisting in testing and deploying new applications and systems.

  • Resolving VPN access issues and maintaining the asset management register.

  • Supporting local building management systems, including IOT, CCTV, UPS, and Access Control.

  • Developing a strong relationship with peers in the corporate IT organisation of ING to assist in international projects and assist international teams.

  • Develop and apply learned institutional knowledge from within the company to resolve issues and drive value from projects.

  • Participate in any project related tasks whilst ensuring timely delivery of input and that all key milestones and delivery dates are achieved.  

  • Continually review day to day procedures to identify any process improvements and drive innovation.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred – in Information technology, or a related ICT discipline.

  • Ideally, previous work experience within an IT department.

  • We value resourcefulness, teamwork, and enthusiasm all of which might be demonstrated via your previous work experience or perhaps involvement in extracurricular activities.

  • High level of attention to detail coupled with strong organisational and scheduling skills are important.

  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills. You will be working with teams across multiple lines of business based in many different counties so strong communication skills are a must.

  • knowledge of basic networking concepts desirable.

  • Awareness of basic ITIL concepts desirable.
