Assistant Relationship Manager, Corporate Sector Coverage

JOB OVERVIEW

Based in Beijing, this role is an Assistant Relationship Manager position within the Front Office client coverage team. In addition to supporting senior bankers in client‑facing activities, you will work closely with a wide range of internal stakeholders. These include teams responsible for KYC, Customer Service, Operations & Credit Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, Mandate Approvals, Product partners, as well as Relationship Managers in other locations, to ensure effective day‑to‑day client relationship management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support senior bankers in business development with a designated portfolio of client relationships.

  • Conduct periodic targeted industry and companies research to support senior bankers to develop in-depth understanding of client's business strategies and banking needs in order to position ING to provide relevant ING products to the client in a timely manner with an objective of maximizing ING's overall revenues and relationship economic profit.

  • Support senior bankers in account planning, transaction execution and ongoing monitoring efforts for the assigned client portfolio

  • Portfolio monitoring including but not limited to reviews/health checks, approval conditions, covenants and to seek required approvals where applicable

  • Prepare call report for each client meeting and important client engagements

  • Assist team with regular Know Your Customer (KYC) / client due diligence (CDD) review

  • Conduct financial spreading to produce preliminary credit assessments for target clients.

  • Work with ESG support team to conduct ESR assessment and ESR review

  • Responsible for daily account management related tasks

  • Risk minded; Report and mitigate risks in a timely and reliable manner

  • Assist in preparation of regulatory reports for SAFE and PBOC

  • Assist in preparation of reports/memos for the team

  • Contribute to department or branch projects

  • Assigned duties as mutually agreed

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in banking industry or financial firms, preferable knowledge in client coverage role

  • Strong analytical capabilities, detailed and meticulous 

  • Highly proficient in AI Tools, POWERPOINT, EXCEL and WORD processing applications

  • Mature, self-motivated team player with ability to work independently and under tight timeline

  • Excellent communication skills with strong command in both spoken and written English and Mandarin

  • Strong collaboration mindset and ability to work with colleagues from different geographies

  • University/ Post graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or relevant discipline
