About the team

The ING Financial Markets team in Romania is a key part of ING’s global trading network, combining strong local expertise with seamless access to international markets.

We play a leading role in the domestic fixed income market, consistently ranking among the top primary dealers for the Romanian Ministry of Finance. This position provides us with deep market access, strong client flow, and a central role in shaping local liquidity and price discovery.

Our team covers a broad range of activities across rates, FX, and funding markets, working closely with both institutional clients and global ING hubs. This creates a dynamic environment where local market insight meets global perspective.

We operate as a lean, high-performing team, where collaboration is essential and individual contribution has real visibility. Traders are encouraged to bring ideas, challenge views, and actively contribute to the desk’s performance and strategy.

Your day to day

• Trade Bonds, FX Swaps, Repo, Interest Rate Derivatives and FX Spot in the interbank market
• Provide competitive pricing and solutions to clients
• Monitor and manage the desk’s positions while ensuring compliance with risk limits
• Stay on top of macroeconomic, political, and market developments and translate them into trading ideas
• Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations and internal policies
• Work confidently with platforms like Bloomberg and Reuters
• Get involved in projects, contributing ideas and supporting system testing
• Provide market quotes in line with regulatory requirements
• Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure;
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the bank's reputation and safeguarding ING, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency;
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to team development and best practices.
• Support product innovation and contribute to business strategy.
• Cover other specific responsibilities and duties within the area of ​​competence, delegated by superiors, justified by business needs;

​What you bring to the team

• Proven experience (7y+) in fixed income trading, with a strong understanding of government bonds, interest rate derivatives, and repo markets.
• Deep knowledge of rates markets, yield curve dynamics, and macro drivers impacting bond pricing and liquidity.
• Ability to generate and execute trading strategies, with a clear risk-return mindset.
• Strong track record of risk management, including managing positions within limits and navigating volatile market conditions.
• Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to translate macro views into actionable trading ideas.
• Solid understanding of market structure, liquidity dynamics, and client flow.
• High level of ownership and accountability, with a disciplined and risk-aware mindset.
• Collaborative approach — able to work effectively within a small, high-performing trading team.
• Clear and confident communication skills (Romanian and English), both internally and with clients.
• Strong command of Bloomberg, Reuters, and Excel (VBA or Python is a plus).
• In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to financial markets.
• Resilience and ability to perform under pressure, managing significant financial risk in a fast-paced environment.
