The agentic systems you build in Istanbul will support ING's international operations across multiple countries and business domains. These are not proof-of-concepts or experimental playgrounds — they are production-grade AI systems designed to operate at scale within the infrastructure of a global financial institution.

As an Agentic AI Engineer within ING Hubs Türkiye's Analytics Engineering Center of Excellence, you'll work at the intersection of cutting-edge AI, distributed systems, software engineering, and financial services. You'll design, build, and scale intelligent agent ecosystems that help ING become increasingly data-driven and AI-powered.

Role Summary

As an Agentic AI Engineer, you will specialize in the engineering and development of agentic solutions — AI systems that leverage autonomous and collaborative agents to solve complex business challenges.

Your primary focus will be designing, building, deploying, and operating distributed agentic architectures using modern AI frameworks, cloud-native technologies, and production software engineering practices.

You will work closely with data scientists, data analysts, engineers, and product teams to bring innovative AI capabilities from concept to production while helping establish the engineering foundations of ING's growing agentic AI ecosystem.

Work Model

Our hybrid way of working is designed to balance collaboration, innovation, and personal flexibility. Team members typically come together at our Vadistanbul office for two days per week during three weeks of the month, while one week each month is fully remote.

We also offer additional flexibility during the summer period, with remote working opportunities throughout August, allowing colleagues to spend more time where they feel most productive while staying connected to their teams.

The Analytics Engineering Center of Excellence team, with more than 100 colleagues and growing, plays a key role in helping ING become increasingly data-driven.

What You Bring

• Strong Python programming skills
• Experience building microservices and REST/gRPC APIs
• Experience with asynchronous programming models
• Experience designing distributed systems using cloud-native services
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including Vertex AI, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, BigQuery and Terraform-based infrastructure provisioning
• Experience deploying and operating applications with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift and CI/CD pipelines
• Basic networking knowledge
• Basic understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code principles
• Familiarity with neural networks, model training and evaluation concepts
• Practical experience working with LLMs including Gemini, Claude or similar models
• Experience designing and implementing RAG systems and vector databases
• Familiarity with multi-agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI or ADK
• Strong software engineering fundamentals including version control, testing, documentation and code reviews
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams

Production Engineering Mindset

We are looking for engineers who have successfully delivered AI solutions into production environments.

You have shipped AI-powered services, RAG systems, agent-based architectures or LLM-powered applications, managed operational challenges, monitored performance, handled incidents, and continuously improved production systems. We are building mission-critical solutions for a global bank and value engineers who understand the realities of operating software in production.

LLM Observability & Evaluation

You understand that LLM quality is an engineering challenge, not an afterthought.

Experience with observability and evaluation tooling such as Langfuse, Phoenix Arize, LangSmith or Ragas is highly valued. Familiarity with evaluation metrics such as faithfulness, relevance, accuracy and context precision is a strong advantage.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design and build cloud-native distributed AI systems using Python
• Develop robust microservices and APIs using modern software engineering practices
• Design and implement multi-agent orchestration architectures
• Develop orchestrator and sub-agent topologies
• Implement tool-calling loops and agent handoff protocols
• Design short-term and long-term memory mechanisms for agent systems
• Build observable and traceable agent workflows
• Operate and optimize RAG pipelines and vector-based retrieval systems
• Deploy and manage applications through Kubernetes/OpenShift environments
• Collaborate with analytics, engineering and product teams
• Ensure reliability, maintainability and scalability across all deployed solutions

Multi-Agent Engineering Responsibilities

You will contribute to:

• Orchestrator and multi-agent design patterns
• Agent memory management strategies
• Agent workflow state management
• Error recovery and resilience mechanisms
• Guardrail checkpoints and validation workflows
• Tool integration frameworks
• Production-grade agent observability and monitoring

These systems must operate reliably under real-world banking workloads and evolving business requirements.

AI Safety & Responsible AI

Given the nature of financial services, responsible AI engineering is essential.

You will help maintain secure, reliable and governed AI systems by contributing to areas such as:

• Prompt injection protection
• Output validation mechanisms
• Responsible AI controls
• Agent authorization patterns
• Monitoring and auditability
• Safe deployment standards for customer-impacting AI systems
