A leadership opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Crime Compliance professional to play a pivotal role in shaping and strengthening an organisation's financial crime compliance framework. Reporting to the Head of Financial Crime Compliance and MLRO, this role will lead governance, regulatory change, risk and control activities while driving a strong compliance culture across the business.

This is a highly visible position with exposure to senior leadership, board committees and regulators, offering the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making and lead key financial crime transformation initiatives.

What you’ll do

  • Leading the design, implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Financial Crime Compliance framework and AML/CTF Program.
  • Managing financial crime governance, risk and control activities, including enterprise-wide risk assessments and control assurance reviews.
  • Driving AML transformation programs, regulatory change initiatives and compliance uplift projects.
  • Providing expert advice on AML/CTF, sanctions and broader financial crime compliance obligations.
  • Preparing high-quality reporting and insights for executive committees, Board forums and Head Office stakeholders.
  • Managing relationships with regulators and supporting responses to regulatory requests and reviews.
  • Leading and developing a high-performing team while fostering a strong risk and compliance culture across the organisation.

What we’re looking for

  • 10+ years' experience within Financial Crime Compliance, AML/CTF, sanctions or broader compliance functions.
  • Deep knowledge of Australian AML/CTF regulations and financial crime risk management frameworks.
  • Experience leading governance, controls, risk assessment or regulatory change programs.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging senior executives, Board-level audiences and regulators.
  • Proven people leadership and team development experience.
  • Relevant compliance qualifications such as ACAMS, Wolfsberg or equivalent accreditation.
  • Experience across banking and financial services environments, with exposure to complex and highly regulated organisations.
