ING Australia’s Integrative Risk Management team is looking to hire a Manager, Credit Risk Modelling to be based in our Sydney office.

This is a high-impact role within our modelling centre of excellence, where you will develop, enhance and monitor business critical credit risk models across ING Australia’s retail and wholesale portfolios. You will work across a broad range of model types including regulatory capital, provisioning and credit decisioning models, and partner closely with senior stakeholders locally and globally to ensure our models remain robust, fit for purpose and aligned to regulatory and internal standards.

We’re looking for a data-driven modeler with a strong quantitative capability, deep expertise in credit risk modelling, sound knowledge of prudential standards, and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.

One of the most appealing aspects of this role is the breadth of exposure. You will have the opportunity to shape your own development path and build deep expertise across capital, provisioning and broader credit risk modelling initiatives. You will also gain exposure to both APRA and European prudential requirements in this role. Our flat organisation structure provides exposure to senior stakeholders, governance forums and executive committees.

It is truly a brilliant place to develop your technical modelling skills as well as your business soft skills / stakeholder skills which are critical to your career.

Ready to make an impact?

What you’ll do

  • Own the end-to-end model life cycle including development, monitoring and engagements with Independent Validation and Audit teams.
  • Perform deep-dive analysis to identify key portfolio risk drivers and assess the impact of economic and strategic changes on the portfolio.
  • Ensure modelling data is fit for purpose through strong data interrogation, quality assessment and collaboration with data and technology stakeholders.
  • Prepare high-quality model documentation, technical papers and presentations for independent validation, audit and regulatory engagements.
  • Continue to strengthen governance and model risk management practices through robust controls, monitoring, issue management and audit readiness across the model suite.
  • Support initiatives to continually enhance the suite of credit risk models in line with APRA, European regulatory requirements and internal standards.

What we’re looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative credit risk modelling in banking or financial services, ideally 5+ years and covering one or more of IRB, provisioning / IFRS 9, stress testing or credit decisioning models.
  • Knowledge of APRA prudential standards relevant to credit risk modelling and/or exposure to European regulatory requirements.
  • Strong technical skills in SAS, R, Python, or SQL.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit risk modelling strategies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present complex findings to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management and the ability to lead modelling initiatives across cross-functional teams.
  • Desirable: Experience with using machine learning or AI models in a controlled risk modelling environment.

What’s in it for you?

  • Discounted ING Health Insurance
  • An additional Rest Day to support your wellbeing
  • An IMPACT Day to volunteer on approved sustainability activity
