As IT Chapter Lead you are directly responsible for initially 10-12 data engineers who specialize in how ING’s reporting challenges is translated into the Finance & Risk integrated data architecture (FRIDA) with data ingestion, datamodels, engines and data engineering.

Your working environment will be in the space of data engineering and embedded engines and the further build-out of ING’s Finance and Risk integrated Data Architecture. The solution is based on cloud-native principles and open-source components.

You can act as equal counterpart for ING’s Domain Architects to find the best solutions under constraints.

The team
The people in your chapter are equally ambitious as you, and you like to transfer your expertise to them and feel satisfaction from coaching (both professionally as personally) your colleagues. You are ambitious with what you and your chapter want to achieve. You stimulate your chapter members towards continuous improvement of their skills. You speak up and challenge the status quo. Next to this you are also part of the leadership team of the Area, which means you co-create the area vision and effectively resource the tribe and squads.

  • Manages engineers leads hierarchically including recruitment
  • Acts as coach for his engineers leads on a daily basis
  • Balances Run and Change, especially with a keen eye on IT Risk
  • Contributes actively to defining way-of-working for FRIDA development (requirements management, design, build, deploy, operate)
  • Makes his teams and others that depend on him successful
  • Sets the example for life-long learning
  • Encourages his chapter to invest in innovation
  • Values engineering craftsmanship
  • Is able to reason from business needs (requirements) deeply into actual software solutions

We are looking for someone with at least 10 years experience as a data engineer. This means developing data-intensive solutions like datawarehouses or other forms of data-intensive applications. You have a proven track record in managing application software at scale.  We value experience in the financial industry, especially experience with Accounting, Regulatory Reporting and Financial Risk functions.

You have at least some experience with coaching other engineers on their craftsmanship.

You are a team player and able to motivate others. You have good communication and consultancy skills and you are persuasive.
