Job Overview
COO Risk is a COO unit dedicated to managing systems, data, processes, and tools for the Risk domain of ING. As part of our mission to take ownership for risk-related operational processes, we are building a new team to strengthen the default monitoring process.
This team will help reduce the number of incorrect defaults in our systems and also drive preventive actions to prevent unnecessary defaults. As a result ING stakeholders will be empowered with timely insights on the client portfolio, and our data quality for credit risk modelling is correct as part of the monthly BAU cycle.
As the pioneers in the team you will have the opportunity to:
- Sit at the heart of the middle office of the bank and help us analyze the global credit portfolio.
- Discuss with various stakeholders in the business and risk departments on how COO Risk can better enable them to meet their purpose
- Negotiate and signoff with other departments to operationalize the procedures that will be followed by the new team
- Expand the scope and mandate of the team to further support other operational units who work in the lending process
- Expand the scope and mandate of the team to further support other risk departments in the bank, who are also looking to improve the process alignment and data quality for credit risk
Key Responsibilities
The purpose of this team is to improve the effectiveness of the Definition of Default in ING. In order to do so, you will:
- Analyze the credit risk system's database to observe the clients entering default on monthly basis
- Troubleshoot the interfaces from the various source systems, and cooperate with the business/IT teams to explain each case
- Work with the Risk Management and Lending teams to verify the healthiness of clients, and ensure the default policy has been correctly followed
- Support the bank's credit risk committee and the credit risk model owners by providing insight into their client portfolio
- Be responsible for coordinating the timely recognition or remediation of both correct and incorrect defaults
- Collaborate with front office and back-office teams to analyze existing operational processes, and propose improvements in proactive handling of defaults
Key Capabilities/Experience
Some of the key skills that will help you succeed:
- Experience in the banking industry, with a good understanding of credit risk processes.
- Affinity for technology and systems, having had experience working with or around enterprise software (either in a run or change environment).
- Expertise with data and data analysis, at least with Excel, ideally also with SQL/SAS/PBI.
- Ability to work on tasks and manage own time to meet deadlines.
- Skilled in communicating and presenting complex topics and solutions and must be open to ideas from others.
- Comfortable working in in an international context.
- Transparent, flexible, and motivated to make every day a success.
Minimum Qualifications
- Team player with Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a financial or technical subject.
- Experience in business and data requirements analysis within the financial services sector.
- Experience in data analysis and broad knowledge of data analysis tools.
- Capable of acting as connector between business and IT.
- Excellent command and use of the English language.
