Integrated Compliance Specialist

The Integrated Compliance Specialist is part of the Integrated Compliance (IC) team, which reports to the Head of Compliance.

The IC team supports the Head of Compliance in the management of compliance risks mainly through the coordination of Group programmes and the implementation of common methodologies across the various Compliance Function teams (i.e., Financial Crime Compliance, Conduct Compliance & Culture, Compliance Quality Assurance, Customer Activity Monitoring, Data Protection).
The IC team shares collective responsibility for the execution of certain compliance processes, such as: Compliance Risk Assessment; Compliance Risk Appetite statement & monitoring; Reporting to Senior Management and to the competent authorities; Planning and budgeting of the Compliance Function.


The team proactively interacts with 1LoD and 2LoD units in ING Italy, other Integrated Compliance teams in ING and functionally with Rest of the World (RoW) Integrated Compliance.


Key Responsibilities:

Provide support to the Integrated Compliance Manager / the IC team in the assigned activities, allowing for functional steering and taking responsibility when delegated in following specific / special activities:

  • Management/coordination of cross-functional exercises/processes required by the Group as part of the Compliance Risk Management Cycle, collaborating with relevant local units both in 1LoD and 2LoD (e.g. Risk Assessment for Compliance, Compliance Risk Appetite Statement and monitoring, Regulatory Scanning, Compliance Chart).
  • Addressing mandatory regulatory reporting by coordinating all internal stakeholders and challenging/reviewing their contribution (e.g., Report for Legal representative attestation, Report on Investment services, Bank of Italy surveys, Request for information from the Authority, etc.).
  • Drafting internal reports to local committees (i.e. Cockpit) and the Group functional line (i.e. Compliance Risk Update), facilitating the collection of data and information from internal stakeholders and ensuring effective communication.
  • Supporting the Head of Compliance in managing the Whistleblowing internal control framework (policy & procedure maintenance, key control standard, training & awareness initiatives, annual reporting).
  • Planning, budgeting and developing of cross-functional activities and liaison with Compliance teams (e.g. Dynamic Plan, Dynamic Workforce Plan, internal training needs, management of cross functional charter).
  • Actively participate in One Compliance (NEXT) initiatives to contribute new ideas and promote local best practices for the continuous development of the Compliance function.

All the above, by interacting constructively with stakeholders (local and global), using the ability to deliver in an efficient way while bringing quality, communicating effectively, relating positively with others and building trust.

Educational and Experience Qualifications, Language:

  • You have 7+ years experience in compliance risk management activities.
  • You have a university degree or equivalent.
  • You have an excellent level of English (verbal/written).

Technical and Soft Skills

  • You have strong skills of critical analysis of data and information.
  • You have sufficient technical background to understand and steer data flows and assess risks.
  • You challenge and collaborate with subject matter experts on the evaluation of regulatory requirements and connected risks applicable to the bank’s activity.
  • You are able to speak up to your manager and peers and defend consistency in the approach.
  • You are an energetic, motivating person who can work as part of a multidisciplinary team with a can-do mentality.
  • You manage your tasks with a good level of autonomy and you prioritise well allowing to make the assigned activities by the due deadlines.
  • You work independently, think and act out of the box and take accountability.
  • You are pragmatic and understand how ING’s business works.
  • You are a team player, you trust others and can be trusted.
  • You proactively maintain contacts with stakeholders and external parties.
  • You stimulate cross-border interaction and alignment, where applicable.
  • You give and ask constructive feedback.
  • You inspire, motivate and help others to succeed.
