About the position:

In response to growth of the business, ING Americas has created this new position to build out the Finance Quality Assurance function. In this role you will be the driving force behind testing the quality of the firm’s financial reports. Using your analytical mindset and independent thinking, you will strategically contribute to the formation of this brand-new function by taking a holistic view of the process and its components. You will also support internal stakeholders (e.g. business lines and risk management) by providing pro-active business analysis and advice. In addition, you will be involved in ING’s global initiatives, giving you the opportunity to build a global network that can also support your activities in the ING Americas.

About the department:

This position is part of the newly formed Quality Assurance function within the Finance function of ING Americas. The purpose of the team is to conduct independent reviews of the organization’s filed reports and verify the appropriateness of the accounting and regulatory standards applied. The team operates as a first line of defense in close cooperation with colleagues from finance, business, legal and compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform quality assessment reviews for financial reports across ING Americas
  • Conduct risk-based planning to optimize the effectiveness of the quality assurance function
  • Create and implement the testing methodology and continuously improve the quality of the function’s processes
  • Review peer work papers of in-scope reports for completeness and accuracy
  • Perform transaction testing and prepare cohesive workpapers to show the work done
  • Communicate findings from assessments and recommend improvements for identified deficiencies
  • Act as a key point of contact for test deliverables
  • Assist with various ad-hoc assignments

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related fields
  • Experience with risk-based assessment methodologies and the performance of transaction testing
  • Detailed knowledge of US GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements for Banks, Broker Dealers and Swap Dealers
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with US regulatory/SEC reporting for financial institutions in internal or external auditing, risk management or related functions
  • Experience applying IFRS and an understanding of European Union prudential regulations is beneficial but not required
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Analytical and independent thinking
  • Detail oriented and self-organized
  • Clear and accurate communication, both written and spoken

Salary Range: $143,000-181,000k
