Internship – Energy Sector Coverage NL Team |Duration: 4-6 months

As part of the Energy Sector Coverage team, you will work in a dynamic, international environment with abundant opportunities to learn and grow.

This role offers a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of banking services and the energy sector and learn how we operate and deliver value to clients. You will contribute to various departmental initiatives, client pitches, in-depth company and industry research, real transactions – while building a network within ING and across the broader banking landscape.

The Team

The Energy sector team is one of the global specialist sector coverage teams and sits at the heart of ING Wholesale Banking. The Energy team focuses on origination activities, advising and financing clients across the full energy value chain—from renewables and utilities to oil & gas and emerging energy technologies. As part of this dynamic and forward-looking team, you will contribute to high-impact transactions and strategic client relationships across Europe and beyond.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supporting client coverage activities including pitch preparation, market research, and financial analysis
  • Assisting with the preparation of client presentations and internal briefing materials
  • Monitoring sector trends and regulatory developments relevant to the energy industry
  • Working on internal projects to improve the efficiency and commercial effectiveness of the team
  • Collaborating with product teams (e.g. Lending, Capital Markets & Advisory, Transaction Services, Financial Markets) to support transaction execution.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to strategic discussions.

How to Succeed

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who meets the following criteria: 

  • A Master’s or third-year Bachelor student enrolled at university during the whole internship period
  • Has a strong interest in energy, finance, and sustainability
  • Analytical, proactive, and eager to learn
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Comfortable working with data and financial models
  • Fluent in English (both spoken and written); Dutch is a bonus but not required
