Job Overview

A Team Lead (Chapter Lead) manages a team of talented business control specialists to ensure that ING entities stay in control of their non-financial risk management. A Team Lead is responsible for teams of 8 to 15 members. They ensure all work items are delivered to the highest standard with outstanding stakeholder service. They ensure all team members are productive, achieving set goals and advancing technically.

Team Leads are expected to continue to work on risk management and at time contribute in the backlog of the team.

On a day to day basis, the Team Lead will interact with the team in Manila, stakeholders and other team members in Belgium, 2LOD, and senior management team.

This role is for Belgium area reporting directly to an Area Lead.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Capability Development

  • Direct manager for a team of 8 to 15 members.
  • Setting team objectives and conducting Performance Evaluation. Provide regular performance feedback and conduct career planning with staff. Takes appropriate corrective action as needed to promote optimal employee performance.
  • Identifying training needs of the team and individuals. Collaborate with other Team Leads to develop skills of staff and help advance their careers
  • Mentoring and coaching business control specialists.
  • Recruitment (on/off boarding), hiring, and training of new talent.
  • Ensures individuals and team align with company policies, training, compliance modules etc.

Delivery

  • Work proactively with representatives and management of bank support functions and provide hands-on support in identifying control weaknesses, implementing and testing new control standards.
  • Participate on control execution for distinct business area, or provide support for control execution.
  • Partner with our 2nd LoD colleagues in analyzing and understanding where risk and control weaknesses arise.
  • Execute risk assessments and gap analyses with regards to the implementation of new control standards and/or new tooling and processes.
  • Assist control owners in implementing solutions and controls that close and minimize any identified control weaknesses and gaps.
  • Coordinate communication between controls owners and 2nd LoD colleagues with regards to key control testing.
  • Build strong partnerships with stakeholders and key groups in ING.
  • Ensure the team consistently deliver quality and timely output.
  • Analyze risks, issues and other data in supporting teams reaching actionable decisions. Create and manage plans to mitigate risks for all projects in your team.
  • Coordinate in removing bottlenecks and improve team performance
  • Manage resource allocations and priorities effectively.
  • Drive cross-team collaboration
  • Provide regular reports to the Area Lead and other departments on your team’s achievements, challenges and recommended solutions.

Practice & Talent Development

  • Work with Area Leads and Team Leads to ensure best practices are implemented and followed.
  • Identify and implement appropriate continuous improvement opportunities
  • Help improve our ING culture and practices.

Key Capabilities/Experience

  • Risk management and familiarity in Agile methodologies
  • Leadership experience (team lead or managerial experience)
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent Stakeholder Management
  • Demonstrates independent thinking and decision-making abilities
  • Possesses strong management and leadership skills including, but not limited to, innovation, communication, ability to influence, strategic thinking and planning
  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and changing business priorities and new requirements
  • Strong innovation, influencing, negotiating skills, and strategic agility
  • Professional maturity and responsibility. A Team Lead is expected to take ownership of issues and work with others to resolve them.
  • Strong ability to help a team in all facets of the delivery cycle from analysis of requirements, design, development through implementation.
  • In depth knowledge of industry standard best practices, processes and methodologies. Experience using agile methodology is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of quality management.
  • Experienced in the use of metrics to drive decision making and process change.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, high productivity environment.
  • Action-oriented, decisive approach to work required, with the willingness to take a hands-on role to ensure deliverables are met on time.
  • Proven experience and expertise in delivering high quality enterprise applications.
