We’re on the hunt for a Lead Data engineer who will drive data architecture and development while delivering actionable insights, conducting risk and quality assessments, and overseeing end-to-end business and systems analysis.

Reporting to the Chapter Lead, the Lead Data engineer must navigate complex delivery environments, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive efficiency, quality, and operational excellence.

What you’ll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure services like Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, to extract, transform, and load (ETL/ELT) data, ensuring alignment with ING’s data architecture and performance standards.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze source systems, and deliver high-quality, value-added data solutions.

  • Ensure data quality and optimize data delivery, re-design infrastructure for scalability, and ensure performance tuning of Azure-based data solution.

  • Contribute to strategic planning and architecture, staying current with industry trends and recommending advanced technologies and methodologies.

  • Lead and mentor data engineers to build expertise in Azure Ecosystem with best practices.

  • Possess a deep understanding and hands-on experience with Azure data services, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Blob Storage

  • Provide operational support for BI platforms, including production issue resolution, metadata documentation, and ensuring SLA compliance.

What are we looking for?

  • 5+ years of experience in Data warehousing or related functions.

  • Extensive experience with Azure DevOps with Terraforms

  • Hands-on experience with Data Lake Storage (ADLS) and Delta Lake for scalable data storage and processing.

  • Proficiency in Azure Services, including Azure SQL for ODS, Key Vault, and Synapse Dataflows and Pipelines for ETL orchestration.

  • Strong development skills using Azure Functions, preferably with Python or PySpark.

  • Experience working with Java APIs for data integration and service communication.

  • Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools, such as Log Analytics and Log Monitoring, to ensure system reliability and observability.

  • Expertise in Power BI for building interactive dashboards and delivering business insights.

  • Good to have Informatica PowerCenter (ETL) knowledge
