Debt Capital Markets – Emerging Markets internship

The ING Debt Capital Markets (DCM) Emerging Markets CEEMEA (Central Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa) origination team in Amsterdam offers off-cycle internship positions to high potential candidates with strong motivation to act in a competitive environment. As an Intern you will support the Originators with the aim to maximize ING’s chances to execute bond mandates for its client base.

Job description

The Internship role will among other things comprise the following aspects:

  • Day to day support of (senior) originators;
  • Maintaining transaction data bases and preparing market and pricing updates;
  • Initial credit analysis of potential bond issuers;
  • Preparing pitches for (potential) clients, identifying relevant pricing comparable and appropriate capital structures;
  • Assist in liaising with ING counterparts on new opportunities, identifying bond opportunities;
  • Assist in transaction structuring, whether it would be for conventional bonds or –growing in importance and volume - for sustainable bond financing solutions;
  • Assist with transaction management including drafting of Offering Memorandum, executing business Due Diligence and preparing roadshow materials;
  • Assisting in the preparation of transaction files for compliance and other internal control purposes;
  • Any ad-hoc analysis and projects as required by your manager.

The team

The CEEMA team in Amsterdam covers the full client spectrum from financial institutions to corporates and from investment grade to non-investment grade.  

The team originates transactions from plain vanilla bond financings to liability management exercises across the capital spectrum (from covered bonds, to senior unsecured to structured subordinated/ hybrid capital, either in conventional or green/ sustainable format) and our product is distributed through ING’s global Financial Markets sales force.

The team works closely together with Product Specialists, Capital Structuring & Advisory, Ratings Advisory and Relationship Managers in the ING network advising on capital structures and funding opportunities.

Prerequisites

  • Applicants will need to be EU nationals or non-EU students enrolled in an EU university
  • Applicants need to be registered as a student with an educational institution for the full duration of the internship
  • Applicants need to be available full-time for the full duration of the internship

  • Demonstrable affinity with Corporate Finance and Financial Markets
  • Well-rounded academic background with coursework in finance and / or economics preferred
  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree required, Master level preferred from an internationally acclaimed university
  • Basic knowledge of international bond markets and fixed income instruments
  • Basic macro-economic knowledge to ‘read’ the market and identify opportunities
  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent (English) writing and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Power Point and Excel skills
  • Capable to read balance sheet, P&L and cash flow statements
  • Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines and willingness to go the extra mile
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Applicants will need to be registered as a student with an educational institution for the entire duration of the internship
  • Please note: to do an internship at ING, you must be either an EU national or a non-EU national enrolled in an educational institution in the Netherlands

DCM is part of ING’s Global Capital Markets team within the Wholesale Bank.
