ING Australia are recruiting a Head of TMT&H which is key leadership role within our Sector Coverage team in Wholesale Banking, which provides services to over 500 clients worldwide with advice and wholesale banking products and services.

This is a Director level role that guides a successful and highly dedicated team to develop and manage client relationships in the TMT&H sector coverage in Australia and New Zealand, with key focus on digital infrastructure and healthcare. You will work with other team members including product specialists to help onboard new clients, originate new business and continually deepen our relationships with existing customers.

The global TMT & Healthcare sector team consists of 80+ dedicated professionals located in New York, Amsterdam, London, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Sydney, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei and Singapore. The combined teams in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei, Sydney and Singapore cover the APAC region, together with bankers in other locations, and serve clients in several TMT & Healthcare sub-sectors. You will also work with the teams in Americas and EMEA who cover the entire spectrum of TMT & Healthcare clients and transactions in their region. We are looking to hire a senior coverage banker who understands the TMT&H sector client base and is a self-starting, highly passionate, results-oriented colleague that will work closely with existing team members in Sydney and the wider TMT&H APAC Sector team.

What you’ll do

  • Build client relations and maintain continuous dialogue with industry contacts and sector participants in the TMT and healthcare sectors at senior levels, and be a trusted advisor in these sectors
  • Maintain regular and engaged contact with relevant product partners and stakeholders within ING such as Corporate Finance (CF), Loan Distribution Group (LDG), Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Financial Markets (FM), Transaction Services (TS) and Risk Management
  • Contribute to the TMT&H commercial strategies, target setting, client marketing and business initiatives, whilst operating within the bank’s commercial and risk appetite
  • Continuously focus on the execution of the Sector Strategy, with relevant regional updates
  • Identify and act on commercial growth opportunities, including event driven, advisory, sustainability and outbound business development
  • Act as people manager for the TMT&H team based in Sydney, responsible for guiding and developing the team

What we’re looking for

  • Senior profile and strong team player with a pro-active mindset
  • At least 12-15 years of experience in the financial sector in an international, wholesale banking, environment
  • Understanding of TMT&H Sector and solid WB product knowledge
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the market and with clients in Australia
  • Graduate degree (MBA, or equivalent)
  • Senior people management profile and strong team player with a pro-active mindset
  • Client-centric approach paired with exceptional detail-orientated and judgement skills
  • Strong communication skills, track record of building relationships
