We started out in 2015 as ING’s software development hub, then steadily expanded our range to include more services and competencies. Now we provide borderless services with bank-wide capabilities and 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐣-𝐍𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐜𝐚.

The Mission

As a Java Developer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary squad contributing to the development and maintenance of backend services and integrations powering DealWise. You will support our team in building reliable features, testing existing workflows, and ensuring high‑quality deliveries while continuously learning modern engineering practices.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers who will help you grow your skills in Java development, API design, test automation, and event‑driven systems using Kafka.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of backend services using Java and Spring.

  • Implement and execute manual test cases, ensuring features behave as expected.

  • Support the team in creating and improving automated tests (API, integration, component-level).

  • Use Postman to validate APIs, mock scenarios, and troubleshoot issues.

  • Assist in consuming, testing, and validating data flows using Kafka.

  • Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and backlog refinement.

  • Collaborate with product owners, UX/UI, QA, and engineering peers.

  • Learn to deploy and monitor applications using the team’s CI/CD pipelines and tooling.

  • Investigate and resolve technical and functional issues with the support of the team.

  • Embrace the agile way of working within a cross-functional squad.

What You Bring to the Team

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of Java and OOP principles.

  • Familiarity with REST APIs and HTTP fundamentals.

  • Experience with Postman (requests, environments, collections).

  • Understanding of manual testing techniques and functional validation.

  • Interest or experience with test automation frameworks (JUnit, REST Assured, Selenium, or similar).

  • Curiosity about event-driven architectures and Kafka (consumer/producer concepts).

  • Knowledge of Git version control.

Soft Skills

  • Eagerness to learn, explore, and improve.

  • Good communication and collaboration skills.

  • Analytical mindset and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work in a structured, agile environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.

  • Exposure to CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, etc.).

  • Previous work or academic projects related to software development.
