Your role & work environment

Within our Belgian HR organization, an opportunity has become available for an HR Lead to create a positive business impact within ING Belgium.

The purpose of the role is to work with Exco members, and the business leadership teams to shape and implement the people agenda within the business through enhancing leadership capabilities and driving strategic people decisions, such as organizational effectiveness, talent and succession planning, people development and team performance.

The role reports directly to the HR Director of ING Belgium. The role will be part of the Belgian HR Leadership team and assures close collaboration with the functional HR line. The role is based in Brussels.

Your key responsibilities

You are responsible for building a strong relationship within the business leadership teams of the correspondent Exco members of ING Belgium and will bring in-depth specialist knowledge in multiple HR areas of expertise. Equally, you bring in a strong business acumen and affinity with the banking business.

Key responsibilities include:

Business:

Senior HR business partner to Exco members in Belgium. Strategic and operational work with clear accountability — e.g. organisation design, actively drive HR metrics on engagement and diversity, coach the senior leaders and advise them on people plans, talent management, succession planning, wellbeing and diversity/inclusion; Build partnering relationships with senior stakeholders by building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust and ensuring that the senior stakeholders have access to high quality advice and guidance to support in delivering business strategy and plans.

Function:

Provide steer and direction on the HR function's strategy towards the business, as well as the Be-HR community and direct reports; Responsible for the hiring, performance management, compensation, and learning/development/coaching of the direct reports of the Exco members you work with.

How to succeed?

In summary, the areas where you make impact are as follows:

  • Shaping the People and Business Agenda and drive Change - partner with Exco members and business leaders to ensure that the right core people capabilities are available to allow for current and future business success.
  • Building a Performance Culture - coach business leaders and their management teams in using performance and talent management solutions to drive individual and team performance.
  • Promoting and apply global people solutions that meet business needs - bring and apply global people solutions, developed by the Community of Expertise, to the specific business context.
  • Collaborating to successfully convey the HR service delivery model - bring feedback on the business needs and context to the Community of Expertise and People Services to improve the people solutions.

Requirements

  • A strong strategic focus and an ability to translate the people vision into increased business performance.
  • Affinity with numbers and data and a good understanding on how data analysis and reporting support building the people agenda.
  • Demonstrated consultation skills to help the business in understanding their people needs and propose the right solution to fit that need.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a clear demonstration of influencing business leaders.
  • Practical experience of implementing significant change initiatives successfully.
  • Deep understanding of HR service delivery model and how collaboration across functions is key in delivering value to the business.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to adapt quickly to financial industry, a good understanding of financial sector is a plus
  • Sensitivity to employment legislation and regulations.

You are a strong communicator at all levels of the organization, with story-telling abilities. Fluent in English (speaking and writing) and good knowledge of French and/or Dutch. You have a Master’s degree level working/thinking capacity.
