Job Description

You will be working in a busy but friendly team supporting your colleagues in the marketing of new clients and all aspects of management of existing clients. The team aim to provide the full suite of banking products but primarily this is Lending, Financial Markets and Transaction Services. You will be exposed to a range of different tasks including risk analysis, pricing models, compliance, legal issues and will be challenged to perform to a high level. The internship will offer first-hand experience of what a career at ING is like by giving you an opportunity to observe and get involved in the day to day running of the business. An internship at ING will allow you to explore your interests and develop your professional skills and capabilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the Shipping Finance team with day-to-day business management, KYC, approval and execution of a diverse range of banking products loans and monitoring the financial health of existing clients

  • This will include monitoring of financial statements, analysing and filing confidential client information and supporting the deal teams as required

  • Excel, Word and possibly Powerpoint will be used to help the team with the above tasks. Specific training will be provided on ING systems

  • Ensuring the team meets requirements of credit risk and audit and remains compliant with ING policies

Your Work Environment

  • The candidate will be working with the Shipping Finance team on level 8 and flexibly as hybrid mode requires

  • The candidate will have contact with all levels of seniority in the team and with stakeholders in London and beyond

Experience:

Essential Skills:

  • A recent graduate or graduating in summer 2025 with a minimum 2:1 degree in a business-related subject. Open to people in their placement year
  • Previous experience via either relevant industrial placement or summer internship

  • Highly competent with Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel.

  • Strong interest in financial analysis and understanding of financial statements/accounts.

  • Must have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the internship

  • Someone who can work well as part of a team as well as own initiative

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for interaction between team members and clients.

  • Someone with a professional and confident manner.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • An organised and details orientated individual.

  • Ability to execute tasks independently and manage/prioritize workload

  • Willingness to learn

Desirable Skills:

  • Qualifications and/or experience in Accountancy/Finance

  • Knowledge of banking and finance
