As a Cloud Engineer, you will be joining the Data and Reporting Foundation. This area is part of the tribe that delivers regulatory and compliance reporting platform within ING.

We do this from a multinational team, consisting of 40+ engineers in 3 different countries: Philippines, India and the Netherlands.

Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Azure Cloud Engineer to join our team. The Azure Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and managing applications, solutions, and systems on the Azure cloud platform. Our ideal candidate has a deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging computing trends.

  • Architecture & Delivery: Design, build, and manage solutions on the Azure cloud.

  • Automation at Scale: Standardize infra patterns with Terraform/Bicep modules, reusable pipelines, and policy as code.

  • Security & Compliance: Implement zero‑trust controls, RBAC, Conditional Access baselines, Azure Policy/Defender for Cloud, and secrets management.

  • Platform Operations: Ensure reliability (SLOs, RTO/RPO), observability, incident response, change management, and cost governance (FinOps).

  • Developer Experience: Provide paved roads (templates, golden paths), self‑service catalogs, and documentation.

  • A degree in Computer Science or a comparable education on an academic level

  • 5+ years of cloud engineering (Azure, AWS or GCP)

  • CI/CD experience. Preferably using Azure Dev/Ops

  • Hands-on experience with technologies like Docker, AKS, Airflow, Terraform.

  • Hands-on experience with Parquet and Delta Parquet

  • Preferably experience with the Open Source way of working

  • Preferably experience with Python

  • You have a good understanding of Software Architecture

  • Excellent team player in an international team, quality focused, service oriented, eager to learn

  • You are able to discuss with your stakeholders and product owner about features and stories and can translate these into software with real business value

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent oral and written English skills

Stand-by shifts

Our platform is business critical. The platform team has a stand-by duty which is planned on rota. Stand-by compensation is awarded.

  • If you are designated by your lead for stand-by shifts to be available for incidents outside of your regular working hours, a Stand-by compensation is awarded.
