Your role & work environment

Within the Finance department at ING Belgium, you will be part of the Center of Expertise “Internal Control & SOx”: We act as the champions of control and non‑financial risk, supporting Finance teams in keeping their activities reliable, compliant, and explainable. Our mission goes beyond checking compliance: we help Finance operate confidently in an increasingly complex environment.

What we do

• We uncover blind spots and strengthen Finance processes

By challenging the setup and functioning of financial processes and accounts, we help teams see what they might overlook and reinforce the quality of financial information.

• We guide Finance through risk‑aware transformation

Change is constant, but it must be controlled. We support project and change teams to design and implement improvements in a way that protects stability and future compliance.

• We are the gatekeepers of the SOx framework

We coordinate, monitor, and continuously strengthen the Sarbanes‑Oxley control framework across Finance and ING Belgium. Rather than policing the rules, we advise and coach teams on how to meet SOx requirements efficiently and intelligently.

• We help the bank stay reliably in control

Our ultimate goal is to ensure that Finance -and the wider ING Belgium organization- can deliver trustworthy reports and insights, backed by strong processes and a solid control environment.

Your key responsibilities

You are looking to add real value to the departments and to deliver results by setting the right priorities while you are working in a structured way and are paying attention to detail. You are eager to learn and to be in control, work autonomously while also able to collaborate and coordinate.

What You Will Do – and Why It Matters

As part of this expert team, you will help shape the control backbone of ING Belgium. Your work enables Finance professionals to focus on what they do best -delivering accurate financial insights- while you safeguard the environment in which they operate.

• Support and Strengthen the SOx Framework

You take ownership of coordinating the SOx process for ING Belgium. You become the go‑to expert who supports departments, challenges their control setup, and proactively helps them elevate the quality and maturity of their SOx control framework. Your guidance ensures that Finance teams can rely on a robust, efficient, and future‑proof structure.

• Develop Deep Expertise in Finance Control Frameworks

You help design and maintain the internal control standards that keep ING Belgium in control. You ensure process documentation is accurate and meaningful, and you identify opportunities to simplify and improve the way Finance works. By doing so, you allow others to concentrate on their core activities, confident that critical controls are in good hands.

• Be an Ambassador for Reducing Financial & Non‑Financial Risks

You promote a culture of risk awareness across Finance. By analysing risks, advising on mitigation, and helping teams understand their blind spots, you enable smarter decisions and more resilient operations. Your role is essential in ensuring that change, innovation, and daily activities all happen in a controlled and responsible way.

As an Internal Control Analyst, you will also ideally have:

  • Affinity with process management
  • Knowledge/ experience within the Financial industry is an asset
  • Strong stakeholder management skills;
  • Proven interpersonal skills, including ability to listen and learn, very communicative;
  • Good knowledge of Dutch or French, and of English.
