Risk Manager - Corporate Sector Lending

Solliciteer

The team

The dynamic Transaction Approval & Advice (‘TA&A’) department within the Wholesale Bank CRO domain is responsible for the analysis, advice and decision making of tailored (lending) transactions for our key WB Sector and Lending clients and supporting these clients in their success whilst safeguarding the risk appetite of the bank. The risk managers (SCO’s and risk officers) have a deep understanding of credit structuring, credit risk and businesses & markets, next to the assessment of related risks like ESG, compliance and climate risk. In addition to the asset-by-asset approval process, the risk managers manage their portfolio and advice senior management on strategic direction in terms of risk appetite and portfolio steering.

Our Amsterdam department employs ~65 persons and is organized in 5 teams;

Energy, Transportation & Logistics; Real Estate, Infra & Construction; Commodities, Food and Agri; TMT & Healthcare, Acquisition Finance, Asset Securitization, Corporate Sector Lending, Corporate Investments, BMG, and Working Capital Solutions; Environmental & Social Responsibility

Roles and responsibilities

We are looking for a dynamic and eager junior banker to work in the team responsible for TMT & Healthcare, Acquisition Finance, Asec, CI, Corporate Sector Lending, BMG and WCS. The team consists of ~15 FTE. Your position will be based in the Amsterdam and you will report to the team lead.

Your primary focus will be supporting the Corporate Sector Lending (CSL) SCO’s. Given the Sector agnostic approach of the local facilities from foreign (large) Corporates booked in the Netherlands, the above average cross-sell in the Dutch CSL portfolio in general as well as (to be developed) general understanding of Corporate Lending, and its diverse and multi-product funding sources are likely to involve you in other product and general corporate areas of the team.

The role of the Credit Risk Officer is to support the sector Senior Credit Officers (SCO’s) in executing client transactions from originating to closing and helping to manage the credit risk of the respective portfolios. It is a wide-ranging role that provides an excellent opportunity to learn about all aspects of credit risk management, different CSL sub-sectors and other portfolios and products.

In addition, the TA&A teams are engaged in many strategic projects, being involved in efficiency processes, sector analysis, RAS limit setting, LT, reporting, climate change and many other related initiatives covering the wider credit strategy of ING.

We are a dynamic team, closely working with Front Office, focused on taking responsible credit risks and managing the various portfolios. The timelines of requests are usually demanding hence flexibility and a ‘can do ‘mentality is important. If suitable, increasing responsibilities will be granted to make sure the personal learning curve is sufficiently steep.

Job description:

  • Providing assistance to SCO’s with Risk Ratings, admin and system tasks in for example Vortex, Approval Package, and CLO;
  • Act as a joint of contact with the SCO for the respective portfolios assigned and act as point of contact if the SCO is not available;
  • Ensuring quality and consistency of credit applications and that transactions meet the conditions of approval as set out in the credit process;
  • Supporting the SCO’s on new transactions, credit modifications and annual reviews in order to form an opinion on the credit risk by virtue of business model analysis, sector trends, credit structure risks, climate/ESG risks and other aspects of credit risk.
  • Closely monitoring the portfolios and helping to develop data led reporting and portfolio management;
  • Actively providing input and performing analysis for various internal/external reports;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with front office peers and stakeholders;
  • Participating in projects and actively providing input for/developing relevant risk policies and reports.

A Credit Risk Officer should have the capabilities & skills to act or grow into the role of a junior SCO, increasing its responsibilities over the years while obtaining a steep learning curve.
