As a Global Communication engineer you will be part of a skilled team that maintains, improves and manages the full life cycle of multiple Front Office communication systems used in Financial Markets and Group Treasury globally. These are telephony, voice recording and chat systems. Your activities are very diverse: from interesting global system implementation deliveries, to helping end users with urgent issues, and ensuring our systems are safe and secure. The team


The Global Communication Support team consists of 9 OPS engineers located in various countries across time zones. Together we deliver top quality support to one of the most critical departments in the bank: Financial Markets & Group Treasury (FM>). The scope is global and consists of 27 Front Office locations. Within the team, we embrace the agile way of working to improve efficiency and to ensure we deliver the best service possible to our customers. You will analyse and troubleshoot incidents and work pro-actively to reduce recurrence. You will also be collaborating in several projects and work on IT risk activities. The focus of the activities is broad with good Windows server knowledge required.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the global communication systems (IPC Unigy; Voice Recording (IMR/ VFC); ICE Instant Messaging).
  • 1st line support (client facing), 2nd line functional support, Vendor management.
  • Troubleshooting end to end (desktop, application, hardware, networks, SBC’s, etc.).
  • Prepare, manage, execute system changes and feature delivery (primarily in weekends)
  • Ensure system security compliance with ING standards and policies (IT Risk).

As a Global Communication Support Engineer you will need:

Knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an IT support function.
  • Strong change management, delivery and organisational skills.
  • Experience in maintaining the operational side of application management, including client facing 1st and 2nd line support.
  • Broad knowledge of hardware (Windows server OS fundamentals) and IT infrastructure.
  • Experience with managing vendors on operational level.

Compentencies:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English).
  • You are customer-focused and communicative. You enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Able to work unsupervised in a high pressurized dynamic environment in a meticulous and structured way.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical thinking - ability to diagnose and resolve ambiguous problems.
  • Willingness to continuously improve skills.

Nice to have:

  • Basic knowledge of networks
  • Knowledge Session Border Controller (SBC’s).
  • Knowledge of Risk Management.
  • Experience with the IPC Unigy system and/or Voice Recording systems.
  • Experience with automation and Pipelines delivery.
  • Any MS certification is an added value, as well as ITIL certification.
