Market risk is one of the most important risks faced by ING. The Change Squad within the Asset and Liability Management (ALM) team of Model Development is responsible for creating market risk mathematical models, implementing them in ING systems, and interacting with locations worldwide regarding development and usage questions.

Role and responsibilities

Among other tasks, you will be involved in the enhancement of net interest income model, and maintaining and calibrating theexisting interest rate models. 

  • Working with mathematical methods to redesign and improve new and existing models

  • Assisting in translating mathematical ideas into easy-to-understand presentations so that users can make informed decisions

  • Working on the net interest income and/or interest rate models

How to succeed

To take on this challenging and rewarding opportunity, you’ll need:

  • To be a Master’s or third-yearBachelor’s student with a mathematical background (such as Econometrics)

  • The ability to explain mathematical concepts to users

  • A strong interest in programming

It would be helpful, but not required, if you have:

  • Knowledge of Python and/or object-oriented programming

NOTE: This traineeship requires being in the office in Amsterdam at least 2 days per week. Housing in Amsterdam and surrounding areas is very difficult to find and will be extremely expensive. These costs will not be covered by ING. Therefore, we will only consider candidates currently living in the Netherlands or those who have access to housing in the Netherlands. Only students on a Dutch University, or EU citizens on a European University will be allowed. Non-EU citizens on non-Dutch Universities are not allowed due to Visa restrictions.
