Your role & work environment

Within our organization, an opportunity has become available for a Head of Pensions to create a positive business impact within ING Belgium. The role is part of the CoE Performance & Reward Belux within ING Belgium's HR department. The role is based in Brussels with occasional business travels.  

As leader, you will oversee 2 Pensions Funds (OFP) providing retirement, death & invalidity benefits to the employees of ING Belgium. You also lead & develop a team of 6 people. You set the standards for their expertise area and take responsibility for developing, innovating, and safeguarding knowledge in the field of expertise.

Your key responsibilities

Your role is to lead the daily management team of both Pension Funds of ING Belgium.

This includes:

  • Oversee day-to-day pension management and the accurate and timely administration of both OFP’s (data mgt, calculations, payments, accounting, …).
  • Follow up the investment management and monitor the performance and value of the portfolios.
  • Monitor pension scheme liabilities and control the financing level of the technical provisions and prepare relevant internal and officials reports.
  • Ensure that the supplementary pension schemes operate effectively and comply with relevant  legislation and regulations from Belgian (FSMA) and European (EIOPA) regulators.
  • Ensure updating maintenance of pension official documents & policies.
  • Prepare and animate management bodies of both funds (Board of Directors, General Assembly,  operationalcommittees).  Supervise redaction of meetings minutes, annual and financial reports.
  • Coordinate and encourage communication between key control functions (internal auditor, risk manager, compliance officer, actuary, DPO). Contact point with control authority.
  • Manage contact and contracts with external service providers.
  • Ensure transparent communication towards employers (sponsors), affiliates & other stakeholders (trade unions, PensioPlus, FSMA, …).
  • Manage projects such as ALM study, Own Risk Assessment (ORA), regulatory changes, Surveys, IT systems updates…
  • Innovate by developing simplified or new tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Lead & develop the skills of the pension team.

How to succeed ?

  • Master’s degree in Law, Economics or Actuarial Sciences
  • Demonstrated experience in pension management
  • Demonstrated experience in high impact leadership
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent written and orally communication skills
  • Project and change management skills that enable translating a strategy into a tangible delivery plan that leads to impactful results
  • Open to new technologies and digital tools and their implementation
  • Ability to evolve in an international context
  • Affinity with numbers and data and a good understanding on how data analysis and reporting support building better people solutions.
  • Ability to build a broad network of productive and strong working relationships and influence constructively at all levels of the organisation.
