Behavioural Change Professional

Apply now

Over the past years, financial institutions have increasingly acknowledged that risk culture and employee behaviour can impact the soundness, risk profile, and integrity of financial institutions like ours. In all workplaces, also at ING, there is a risk that the way people behave could potentially lead to negative business outcomes. This type of risk is called ‘behavioural risk’.

As a Behavioural Change Professional, you contribute to strengthening the organisation’s behavioural culture. You work with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation to translate insights from Behavioural Risk Assessments and the yearly Risk Culture Maturity Report into concrete interventions that help reduce undesired behaviour. You will be involved in preparing intervention roadmaps, coordinating activities, and facilitating interventions together with more experienced team members.

The Team

The Risk Culture & Behavioural Risk (RC&BR) department was set up to put risk culture and behavioural risk on the agenda of the bank globally. ING’s risk culture is what allows employees to identify, understand, discuss and act upon the many financial and non-financial risks they’re confronted with every day. The RC&BR department provides a clear vision, aligned strategy and sound methodological approach to identify, assess, and bring change to the way employees of ING act on risks.

The RC&BR department consists of two teams: the Assessment team and the Intervention team. We are looking for a Behavioural Change Professional to join the Intervention team.

The intervention team supports the business in moving from undesired towards desired behaviours, thereby mitigating behavioural risks. The team determines and designs interventions that impact all levels of the organisation. The approach is based on scientific insights and proven theories that are relevant in the context of behavioural risk mitigation and guiding behavioural interventions, contributing to effective and impactful change.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Contributing to the design, preparation, and delivery of behavioural interventions;

  • Collaborating with a wide range of internal stakeholders;

  • Translating behavioural insights into practical recommendations;

  • Helping monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and identifying improvements.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

We are looking for a team member with the following knowledge and experience:

  • 3 years of relevant work experience or relevant internship experience;

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., organisational psychology, behavioural/organisational change, social sciences);

  • A clear understanding of behavioural concepts and their application in organisations;

  • Affinity with human behaviour (e.g., group dynamics, decision-making, organisational behaviour);

  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks;

  • An analytical mindset and the ability to develop practical solutions based on behavioural insights;

  • Proactiveness and ownership over your tasks: you take initiative and follow through;

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with different types of stakeholders;

  • Comfort speaking in group settings or willingness to grow in this area;

  • Interest in the financial industry and its risk and regulatory context.
