The Mission

Our tribe is part of Financial Markets & Group Treasury, responsible for delivering IT solutions for trading, risk analysis and hedging.

You will be part of the Financial Markets Inside Business squad, working on a customer-facing portal used by our Wholesale Banking clients. The digital solutions we develop offer primarily trading and reporting functionality to our end users, amongst others by aggregating data flows from various internal system and presenting them in an easy-to-understand way.

The stack is powered by Java/Spring Boot and our screens are built in our proprietary HTML5 based ing-web technology. Everything is hosted on Linux VMs together with Oracle databases.

Your day to day

You work within a multidisciplinary scrum team. Your initial focus will be operational activities, where you will have the opportunity to tackle business as usual activities (monitoring, incident management, change management, support) for everything that comes either via backlog or communication channels. All these to assure stability, availability and reliability of the project.

Once you consolidate entire info, you will be able to come with improvement ideas, and to extend your knowledge related to backend development.

You will also get the chance to grow and shape your technical expertise as well as to learn new concepts. We truly believe in personal growth, and you will have dedicated time to learn new things and develop your soft skills as well, besides the technical ones.

In terms of your day-to-day activities, here is just a glimpse of what a day might look like:

Short term:

  • Understanding and monitoring the entire stack’s technology on which application runs.
  • Performing Incident, Problem and Change Management, including writing user stories for resolving problems related to the environments they are responsible for.
  • Implementing the security policy so that the system is secure at operating system, database and application level.
  • Taking ownership of IT reliability, security (Operational Control) and risk.
  • Configure and implement monitoring solutions.
  • Work closely with your Product Owner, business stakeholders and engineers from related teams.

Long term:

  • Increase know-how on business and development, contributing to roadmap delivery plan agreed every year. Basically, after coding or a session of pair programming, considering that your developed code is secure, you push your tested and formatted code to your branch in Azure DevOps.
  • The pipeline starts. Prettier checks your code for proper formatting and several steps pass automatically, making your life easier to deploy! When everything passes, the pipeline turns green.
  • One of your colleagues does a code review and merges your branch into development. The code gets deployed onto a staging server where the team and the Product Owner can validate. You are just one step away from production!
  • In designated days you will refine stories along the Product Owner and other engineers, participate in plannings as well as other ceremonies as we follow the agile principles and One Way of Working.

What you’ll bring to the team

Together with your colleagues, we want you to take responsibility of features delivery, have the drive to implement them, be open, honest, communicate clearly and be eager to learn.
