Job Overview

  • Control Hub Manila performs key controls testing on behalf of First Line Management of ING around the globe. We contribute to the risk management practices of the bank by checking the effectiveness and existence of the design and actual operation of controls against best practices, regulations, minimum standards, policies, and procedures.
  • You will be part of a KCT Circle comprising pool of key control testers and you will be reporting to a service delivery lead and circle lead
  • Your role entails interacting with stakeholders from different countries around the globe

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing Key Control Testing from a First Line of Defense perspective in line with the Global Procedure Non-Financial Risk Key Controls Identification, Monitoring and Evaluation and/or SOx Content Binder
  • Performing readiness checks (check on the availability and quality of test plans, irisk details, etc.) with Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for controls to be tested prior to testing execution
  • Understanding the processes and performing walkthroughs of various financial, operational, regulatory, and compliance processes
  • Reviewing the design and operating effectiveness of key controls in a financial or banking setup to comply with minimum standards, policies, procedures, and other regulatory and reporting requirements such as SOx, GDPR, ISAE, etc.
  • Monitoring and providing reports on progress and status of tasks mentioned above to Control Owners and/or SPOC
  • Documenting test results, providing viable recommendations, and articulating risks for identified issues or deviations
  • Coordinating the Key Control Testing process from start until conclusion in accordance with ING policies, ING continuous planning, and circle planning.
  • Spotting improvement areas in the processes (related to testing or Way of Working of the team) you encounter and pushing for your ideas to materialize that would result in process efficiency and additional controls.
  • Overcoming impediments through adequate articulation of the situation and timely escalation

Key Capabilities/Experience

  • Independently perform key controls testing with minimal supervision which would mean with thorough understanding of risk and controls relationship.
  • Independently navigate through a large and complex organization through resourcefulness, meaningful inquiry, and critical thinking. Experience showcasing project management is an advantage.
  • Work with various application systems and able to spot risks that come with the use of those systems and the controls that should be in place
  • Continuously generate improvement ideas. Completing white belt projects with related FTE saves is an advantage.
  • Work with basic MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) in documenting your work. Experience with advanced tools like power automate or Power BI is an advantage.
  • CIA/CPA certification is an advantage.
  • 2 years of experience in external or internal audit or a similar nature is an advantage

Minimum Qualifications

  • Has performed the cycle of key control testing from understanding the process, conducting walkthroughs, performing testing, documenting results, and concluding evaluation
  • Good understanding of risk and controls concept
  • Knowledge and/or experience with SOx, controls related to financial statement close process, financial statements disclosures, end user computing, financial and regulatory reporting, Wholesale or retail banking products, KYC, US withholding tax, FATCA, GPDP, and other bank related processes or standards is an advantage
  • Good communicator (both verbal and written)
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic and challenging environment
  • Able to navigate through ambiguity while resisting stress and maintaining composure
  • Deliver commitments in a timely manner
  • Comfortable with daily task tracking
  • Comfortable with doing tasks outside normal job responsibilities (stretch goals)
