Job Description - Summary

The role of Sustainable Finance (SF) Intern is important in supporting the SF Lead for Italy to carry out all the commercial activities needed to structure a Sustainable Finance transaction and comply with reporting requirements. 

As a SF Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of Sustainability and Sustainable Finance, dealing not only with internal activities, but also joining clients’ meetings/calls. You will be responsible for supporting on the various initiatives, clients’ presentations and related tasks. This internship will provide you with valuable skills and knowledge on one of the most relevant topics nowadays, while working with different teams of professionals in the entire ING network, not only in Italy.

SF Intern responsibilities

  • Assist SF Lead and local Sector teams with origination and execution of SF transactions with Italian clients.
  • Help handling and monitoring the local reporting ESG activities, in coordination with the SF Central team, to ensure data quality in all the relevant systems.
  • Assist in assessing the Sustainability performance of clients through analysis of their No-Financial information disclosure (Sustainability report)
  • Support in drafting SF presentations for clients’ pitches, reviewing Legal wording and complying with all the related internal administrative tasks.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of SF strategies for ING, like external events.
  • Collaborate and be aligned with SF Central team on ING Group initiatives and tasks.

Required skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in Italian and English.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of banking industry trends and best practices.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships.

Required qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Economics or a related field.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Availability to work on-site or remotely depending on the organization's needs.
  • Strong interest in the field of Commercial Banking and Sustainability and a desire to learn and grow.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to take initiative.
