Senior Site Reliability Engineer (f/m/x)

Apply now

We are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to drive reliability, scalability, and operability for our customer‑facing platforms. You will design and automate resilient infrastructure, evolve observability and incident response, and partner with product and platform teams to embed SRE principles—availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning—into day‑to‑day engineering.. Sounds like you? We are looking forward to your CV!

Your Tasks

  • Reliability by Design: Define and evolve SLOs/SLIs and error budgets for critical services; implement guardrails that balance feature velocity with reliability.
  • Observability: Lead end‑to‑end monitoring, logging, and tracing—build actionable dashboards and alerting hygiene (noise reduction, clear ownership, self‑healing runbooks).
  • Production Engineering: Own incident management lifecycle (triage, escalation, comms, blameless postmortems), drive corrective actions, and track reliability risks to closure.
  • Automation & Tooling: Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC), GitOps workflows, and release/rollback automation to reduce toil and change risk.
  • Performance & Capacity: Conduct load testing, capacity modeling, and cost/performance tuning; forecast growth and right‑size infrastructure.
  • Security & Compliance: Partner with Security to embed secrets management, least‑privilege, patching, and policy‑as‑code into the platform.
  • Platform Stewardship: Improve developer experience—golden paths, paved‑road templates, CI/CD guardrails, and reliable dev/test environments.
  • Cross‑Team Collaboration: Coach squads on SRE best practices; influence architecture for reliability (back‑pressure, bulkheads, retries, circuit breakers, idempotency).
  • On‑Call Excellence: Participate in and mature on‑call rotations; continuously improve MTTA/MTTR with automation, better runbooks, and robust failure testing.
  • Continuous Improvement: Instrument reliability KPIs; run chaos experiments/game days; turn production learnings into preventative engineering.

Your Profile

  • 8–10+ years in SRE/Production Engineering/DevOps or equivalent software engineering roles with ownership of high‑availability systems.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals (one or more: Python, Go, Java, TypeScript) and proven automation mindset.
  • Deep experience with Kubernetes (or container orchestration), cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP), service meshes, and networking (DNS, TLS, HTTP, gRPC).
  • Proficiency with IaC (Terraform, Helm) and CI/CD (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Hands‑on with observability stacks (Prometheus/Grafana, Open Telemetry, ELK/Elastic, Loki, Tempo, Sentry, Datadog, Splunk, New Relic) and alert design.
  • Demonstrated leadership in incident response and postmortems, translating findings into systemic fixes.
  • Solid understanding of resilient architectures: horizontal scaling, sharding/partitioning, caching, queues/streams (Kafka), backpressure, and graceful degradation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to influence and coach across squads.
  • Good English, both written and spoken; German is a plus

We offer many benefits

  • Company pension plan, capital-building offers, free Deutschlandticket & bicycle leasING, company restaurant
  • Hybrid working: In addition to working in the office, you can also work remotely – within operational, regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Individualized work schedule models, sabbatical, subsidization of nursing & childcare costs
  • Personal budget for continuing education and development as well as health; plus, a personal budget to set up your mobile working space
